Edited on Thu Dec-09-10 01:20 AM by HardWorkingDem
Why don't you show us YOUR salary when talking of this tax debate.

My goodness...he gets preeeeettttttyyyyyyyy upset when he starts thinking about losing his tax cut!

1. That was certainly not his "finest" hour...
Unbelievably rude to Grayson.

3. I went over to MSNBC to find an email to his show...but...
it looks like he's just a tweeter.

I would really like to see a push for all pundits to put their salaries up there when talking about economics like this. To me, most of the time they all have a conflict of interest.

Edited on Thu Dec-09-10 01:19 AM by gateley
saying (as he did last night) that Obama did all he could do?

ETA: I didn't see tonight's show so I may be way off base.

5. I would be lying if I claimed he's never went off on a Rethug like he did Grayson, but...
Edited on Thu Dec-09-10 01:25 AM by HardWorkingDem
from what I saw, he went after Grayson right from the start. In his opening words you can tell he's pissed at ANY Dem who has criticized Obama for this bill.

But my complaint with O'Donnell is his overall attitude of "hey, take you kick to the teeth and be happy you still have one left."

15. I know last night he was almost apopletic about how Obama did all he could -
like he could convince anyone listening to agree with him. He may be right, it's always easier for us to pass judgment on how somebody else handles something, but I just tuned him out because he got kind of rabid about it.

I'm surprised he went after Grayson - and I can only assume it's because maybe Grayson was presenting valid arguments to his view?

Disappointing, I like him a lot and always felt he was (wait for it) fair and balanced. :7

Now you've got my interest piqued so I'll check it out. :hi:

24. He went after Grayson for suggesting that its OK to risk a 50% tax increase on the poor.
Get your story straight. And stop being so hypersensitive just because someone put Grayson in a spot where he didn't have all his facts. He is only human.

6. I think he is dogmatic about the process....
given his prior time as Chief of Staff to Moynihan's Senate Finance Committee. He is genuinely convinced that the sky will fall in for the Dems, if we let these tax cuts expire in January and is convinced that there is no choice but to pass this (shitty) bill.

I tend to agree with you, gately. I do not think it is his own tax cuts that is motivating his attitude. I think he genuinely thinks he knows what his guests do not. Condescending? You bet. But, I think that is it.

16. Good point -- that he may feel he knows more than his guests -- even a
Congressman!

I do think he's a good guy so I'll give him a pass on this (unless we have to listen to it day after day after day.)

Its not his fault they have been stumbling over themselves when coming on his show the past few nights. Bring your A game if you are gonna argue with Lawrence.

Edited on Thu Dec-09-10 01:46 AM by slay
it's his loyalty to the status quo - his ? admiration ? for the senate rules somehow? I don't get it. If congress is broken don't just shrug and go - that's how it is Lawrence - talk about it - place the blame where it really lies - with the Republicans. I know in a way he does but not NEARLY hard enough. It makes me wonder if he's on MSNBC to provide cover for White House bullshit that most of us will never buy into.

I noticed his guests sure weren't!

*on edit: He should apologize for being so rude to Grayson - a man who seems to ALWAYS be on the side of the people. Sigh..

(I also wish it were Cenk Uygur at 10pm instead - oh well.)

I thought Larry was going to pop a vessel. Have seen him on Morning Scar and he's usually pretty together - even the husband turned and said, 'Larry's freaking out'.

12. What's really pissing me off now is how he says the word "liberal"....
Each time he says the word he makes it sound dirty. Each time he has said it tonight he's made us sound like whiny little children who are mad because we just lost a toy.

14. He has a bug up his ass about being on the "inside" of writing legislation.
I saw the look in his eye at the beginning of the show
and I said NO!
I am going to COSTCO.

I thought about this the other night when he spoke of the difficulty in re writing legislation. "I don't care about process." I said. "The principles that will guide our country through the next few years are the most important things that need to be addressed."

BTW it doesn't matter how much money he makes or what tax bracket he is in. That is contract negotiation. It is how much one pays as a percentage of one's income to the FEDS. Warren Buffet, in his last public income tax statement, paid 16.9% or so. Legally. Probably Hannity, Beck, Limbaugh and the rest pay under 20% too.

Really if you pay more than 25% you need a new tax accountant. Or new hobbies.

he went out on his shield for "we The People." O'Donnel is conceited. Looks down his nose. I will always watch Keith and I like the Ed Show. Maddow is good also. Just don't have time to watch them all, so Keith is #1.

Edited on Thu Dec-09-10 11:33 AM by HardWorkingDem
in a way that turns people he says are liberal into a nasty pejorative and flipping out on people that disagree with him. For the last two nights he has not just disagreed with ANY Dem who is upset with Obama's tax compromise, but more or less viciously attacked them. For the first night he spent a large chunk of time more or less calling anyone who did not agree an ignorant person who should stay home, keep their mouths shut and let the adults in Washington do the work because we're too stupid to know any better.

Hell, I bet he's in favor of the one right wing nut's idea of having to own land to vote.
