The Nightmare of January.
The party of no with a huge majority in the House and increased numbers in the Senate is about to become the party with the power to decimate social programs, and the party of capitulation and compromise headed by a President who proclaims more reaching across the aisle, will, if past is prologue, not only not stand up to the screwing of the middle class and the poor, but will partner with it.

What can we do? Not bloody much. My focus on state politics will continue to grow. I feel helpless in the face of what's going on on the federal level.

And no, I don't hate President Obama, but I am disillusioned and disappointed in him.

2. Think I will be focusing on local/state too.
I mentioned that when unsubscribing to their mailing list. Our state (Illinois) has plenty of issues.

7. I think it is more effective to focus on local/state
That was my focus for 2010 until I got sent to another state to work for a campaign.

Now I am playing catch up and it's hard.

I REALLY want to rebuild my county Democratic party.

3. I too am disappointed
and I applaud your focus on State Politics. I cannot gather enough energy for that, although we will have a "right to work" fight coming up here in Missouri I fear.

5. when I recover from the body blow
of November, I'll get back into local/state politics. I'm grateful that there are others who have the strength right now to continue the fight. Thanks Goddess there are so many of us that we can take brief respites from time to time.

6. HUGE majority?
I know they won more than half...guess it depends on what your definition of HUGE is.
