Itay Has Doubts About Buying F-35Bs
unhappycamper note: Since the ‘Pentagon’ (DoD? Gannett?) has ‘requested’ that I only post one paragraph from articles on Army Times, and Airforce Times, To keep in that same (new) tradition, I will also do the same for for articles on Navy Times, Marine Corps Times, stripes.com and military.com.
To read the article in the military's own words, you will need to click the link.

Read all about Fair Use here. It sure is beginning to smell like fascism.

unhappycamper summary of this article: At $243+ million dollars, I can see their consternation.

"and pour resources into the A and C models of the jet" - super, when you order fewer aircraft the price of what is delivered goes up. If this keeps going, I'd expect the price of the F-35 to approach the $355 million dollar price tag of the F-22. :(

Be sure the read the comments at the end of the linked thread.

Italy Considers Cutting its F-35B Purchase

Still, if this move occurs, it would reduce the F-35B purchase by almost 190 aircraft when combined with the British cut. This will no doubt have an impact on the cost of the F-35B and strengthen the argument of those who want to scrap the plane and pour resources into the A and C models of the jet.

1. :(
The B & D versions are the coolest.
Hope they don't cut the STOVL.
