The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is one of the world's most conservative societies, with capital punishment dealt out regularly for violations of religious moral codes. Saudi citizens have been killed by the state for things such as adultry, disobedience and political dissidence.

But these rules apparently do not apply to the children of wealthy Saudi elites, according to a US State Department communication published by secrets outlet WikiLeaks.

Instead of adhering to a strict behavioral code as most other Saudis do, the elite youths are fond of parties featuring staples of many high-dollar Western blowouts, like copious amounts of alcohol, cocaine and hashish, along with a few "working girls" to boot.

The document shows how, behind closed doors and away from the country's religious police, the rich stage elaborate parties and casually violate the very laws their government regularly, and many times brutally, upholds.

1. Same thing happens here too
Laws are just for poor people as far as the rich here are concerned.

4. Yea, I have heard that doctrine.

It is the belief that people that want to help people and care about people are fools.

That belief says that people that know all are evil should trust in grace of God and do what ever they want. It leads to conscious burn out.

If you can remove all feeling of what is right and wrong, you can do what ever you want. You could make the argument that partying is not wrong, if it does not hurt anyone, but using economics to get prostitutes, can hurt many people. Although many have that flaw in many forms, just an example.

But the point is if you don't care, you can do those things, and that is the burn out your conscious argument.

It is explained in a movie, that says that existence is evil, and that guilt is a curse, that doctrine says set down guilt like a bag of bricks.

Feeling and conscious is to keep the world from devolving into an a state where people just hurt each other in perpetual fighting.

Caring is not a curse, nor something that should be gotten rid of, but an important part of being alive and being able to help many in society, the reward from it is memories and feelings, not self righteousness, since most also know they have many flaws.

However partying that does not hurt someone seems ok, since it does not seem to have bad effects, but telling other people to be different by coercion then doing those things is disingenuous, controlling, selfish, and dishonest.

But we all do those things sometimes. But at least know that you do them and why.

So I am not saying partying is sin, I am saying making edicts of what is sin, when you do not believe it is Machiavellianism.

3. Sounds like the American ruling elite and their hypocritical War on Drugs. n/t
Maybe Mr. Webster could come up with an interesting article about American rulers (judges, cops, presidents, etc) who have used or are currently using illegal drugs while locking up the peasants for similar acts.

5. This is not really news.
Though it's always interesting to see how they disregard the tenets of their own rigidly-enforced religion. And in light of the fact that 15 of the 19 9/11 hijackers were Saudi, it's especially interesting.

6. Trade-off to preserve the status quo.
Similar to this country's dealing with our religious fundamentalists.

The rich elite liberally fund the Wahabi sects of Islam. The Wahabi publicly declare war against the Saudi Royal Family due to their moral excesses but essentially leave them alone in order to secure more money. And in return for being left alone, the Saudi government has a firm theocracy that cuts off the hands of thieves and employs cruel and crude forms of capital punishment for adultery, which satisfies the fundamentalists.

Our correlation is the Republican Establishment takes away jobs and money and opportunity from everyone not in their club. To placate the republican "rabble", the republican legislators pass laws that reflect their religious fundamentalism, e.g., banning gay marriage, abortion, etc.

9. Another Non-Revelation...
This was reported on back in the early 70s when the oil money really began to flow. I recall stories from Aramco workers who regularly partied with the royals with the booze, coke and hookers flowing. When Iraq invaded Kuwaiit in '90 there were lots of stories of royals from not only that country but Saudi Arabia from taking off to Cairo or London or New York...partying until it was safe to come back. And that doesn't mention the wild parties and lifestyles many of the royals have when they travel abroad. It's a big reason the royal family pays off the clerics in that country...to keep them from revolting and serve as a secret police.

Honestly...this really isn't anything earth shattering...even for those inside Saudi Arabia.

11. They are regular sights in casinos in England and Europe since the 1950's
when they realized they had us by the ass because they own the oil...They are swimming in money, and spend it on pleasures they are denied by their religion...they probably blame us in the west for it, too...everyone else seems to.
