Poll question: Which Democrats should we support more on Democratic Underground?

A group of over 50 House Democrats have gone on the record in stating their opposition to the tax cut deal struck by President Obama with Congressional Republicans.

Led by Rep. Peter Welch (D-VT), the group released a letter today that was sent to Speaker Nancy Pelosi, which calls the deal "fiscally irresponsible" and "grossly unfair."

"Borrowing nearly a trillion dollars to finance tax cuts that disproportionately favor millionaires and billionaires threatens our ability to create jobs, growth middle class and protect seniors," the letter says.

13. Take it easy!
She's my Rep. and I love her.

:loveya:

She's been in a real pickle since she's way too close to Obama. She was a co-chair of his presidential campaign and really had to, much to my chagrin, be a good "company" woman early on. It's great to see that she's been more objective in recent months, comfortable saying that she has issues with parts of Obama's policies.

Having said that, she might be the best candidate bar none. Next to Pelosi, she may be the most powerful person in the House. And like Pelosi, as opposed to Obama, she's been a tenacious fighter for years.

16. I was so impressed with her deficit proposal. I didn't know much about her
up until about April I would say. I think she has proven recently she will stick up for the little guys, even if it means going against the party.

3. imo it makes more sense to support policies, rather than people...
This week I'm with the House on standing against this awful deal, which represents policies that have led to the mess we're in.

28. Obstruction doesn't work in the House -- Obstruction is a Senate thing
Pelosi, as minority leader in the House will have no power.

Harry Reid will be the majority leader in the Senate, but the Senate is actually made up of 100 independents.

11. We Need More Spine;Less Words
It's the spineless on our side that has kept us in one mess after another. They often sit there, quietly like kids in a grade school classroom while the bullies take over the class. It's time to respect those who refuse to cave in and start representing the PEOPLE and not their own jobs, their buddies, the system, the other side. We need 100%ers--not fence sitters, not those who say yes and no at whim. We need to have people we can count on, that will fight for us and we in turn will back them up. But you can't back up someone who has no spine.

That's the second or third time he's treated someone like shit - I don't even care if they're Republicans. O'Donnell screams at his guests and won't let them answer.
