And up pops this little message:

"We noticed you haven’t used Google Toolbar recently"

When you haven't used Google Toolbar for an extended period of time, you may see a small message appear at the bottom of your screen asking if you want to turn on Toolbar. You can learn more about useful Toolbar features, like translating web pages instantly and completing forms with a single click, in the getting started guide.

Toolbar periodically contacts our servers to check that Toolbar is not dormant. It also may request automatic updates to the software to ensure that Toolbar has the latest security fixes and features. Therefore, you may not have seen some of the exciting features we've added recently.

It's bad enough they sneak in all these 'extras' without you knowing and then turn on 'send statistics to GOOGLE' now they are watching.

They give you an out via a dismiss command, but I think uninstalling it is best.

Privacy, long gone in America.

1. I have found that if I do a search for a product
probably on Amazon, the next time there is a website that displays ads, they are all related to my recent search.

Really spooky!

16. Interesting thought - I usually try to buy local beer and wine, but I never thought of
the union aspect. My googlage (sorry, wrong thread for that, but at least I didn't use the toolbar!) found a list of union beers:

All Miller products, including: (UAW)
Miller High Life, Genuine Draft and Lite
Milwaukee’s Best
Sharp’s
Icehouse, Red Dog
Hamm’s

All Anheuser-Busch products, including: (IAM)
Budweiser, Bud Light and Budweiser American Ale
Michelob
Shock Top
Busch
Natural Light
Rolling Rock
O’Doul’s

Leinenkugel’s (UAW)
Iron City (IUE-CWA)
Mad River Brewing Co. (IAM)
Henry Weinhard’s (UAW)

http://blog.aflcio.org/2010/07/13/netroots-nation-vote-on-a-union-beer/

Not much there that I've had or like, but Mad River looks promising (can't remember if I've had them or not) - I'll bump them up on my shopping list...

6. I've got google blocked in my preferences
along with a few others. I suggest to everyone to do the same. No need for someone tracking my every move on the Internet same as in real life.

No scripts allowed from them either.
