WTF ??? - (DADT Sub-Plot On The Senate Floor)
<snip>

Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine), the prime negotiating partner of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid's, voted to bring the bill forward but only after it was clear that the 60 needed to end a filibuster would not be achieved. Her vote came after she angrily roamed the Senate floor, rolling up text of the legislation and waving it around, smacking it on Sen. Dick Durbin's desk and hitting him on the arm with it.

And...

During the drawn-out vote, Collins waved a copy of the bill at Reid's empty desk while speaking animatedly with Lieberman and Sen. Carl Levin (D-Mich.), chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, both prominent supporters of repeal. She repeatedly pointed to language in the bill in her hand. Eventually, she stood alone at her desk, intently scanning the document. At one point, something jumped out at her and she underlined certain language in pencil, then went looking again for Lieberman and Levin.

12. This breaks a lot of workplace rules...
Don't you think if someone hit you with a rolled up newspaper or something like that you'd have no legal recourse? If it happened at your place of employment, don't you think you'd have the right to sue that person?

People have the right NOT to be hit.

3. The picture in the article has four stars on the spine of the book.
CIA is oppressing people.

I repeat.

That picture says the CIA is on their spines.

True story.

Personal note, after a battle where I checked out a certain place, later I took 4 rice size items that looked like pencil lead out of a wound in my neck. (might be where the image in Equilibrium comes from.)

Also why some have said 'pitching on LSD' I been acid free for years.

I would guess they are using that drug method on many legislators also, might be the meaning of 'acid blood' when talking about Lieberman.

Could be spiritual also, since many things like that happened before drugs were developed.

However I do know there were little rice size graphite color items in my neck after scouting out a location I was told to go to.

9. Can't say what this might be about
But she was apparently in deep negotiations wiht Reid's office about how many amendments could be offered, the length of time on debate, and other arcanae of interest to Senators. Collins originally wanted unlimited debate and amendments, presumably as a vehicle for killing the defense appropriations bill with the repeal of don't ask/don't tell as one of its provisions. Collins herself wouldn't kill the bill, but her pals on the Republican side would be more than happy to do that bit of heavy lifting.

Reid apparently offered limited debate, and up to 15 amendments (10 Republican, 5 Democratic), but Collins was firm in her commitment that the bill should be fully debated and open to amendment. Reid, whose fealty to getting the budget process off the schneid is second only to his fealty to his desire to get out of town by December 17, declined to give in to Collins, and stuck to his offer of limited debate and amendment. I'm guessing that Collins was upset about not getting her way, and reacted the way any 4-year-old would.
