Cheney delivers warning on war in Iraq
Addressing West Point graduates, the vice president paints a particularly dark picture of the consequences of failure.
By Noam N. Levey, Times Staff Writer
2:41 PM PDT, May 26, 2007

WEST POINT, N.Y. — With the Bush administration laboring to persuade skeptical Americans to stick with its war effort, Vice President Dick Cheney delivered a graphic warning Saturday about the high stakes of the ongoing conflict in Iraq.

"Al Qaeda's leadership has said they have the right to 'kill four million Americans, two million of them children, and to exile twice as many and to wound and cripple thousands,' " Cheney told graduates in a commencement speech at the U.S. Military Academy.

"America is fighting this enemy in Iraq," he said.

Cheney's caution came just a day after President Bush issued his own new warnings at a White House news conference during which he told reporters that terrorists are a danger to their children.

If Al Qaeda's leadership really did want to 'kill four million Americans, two million of them children, and to exile twice as many and to wound and cripple thousands",

5. How low can they go?
So now the poster headline for this "war" is the children - our children, as opposed to the Iraq ones' that we maim and slaughter at will.
The real threat to our children is the maniacal band of criminals that is this country's administration.
And what of the financial cost of this travesty that will be bourne by our children?
I will say that having the most obvious lunatic - cheney - in public, can only help our cause.

6. They probably have said they have the right
to do all those things in retaliation for what they perceive has been done to the Islamic/Arab world by the West since the Brits decided to add most of it to their Empire. That's a long way from the implication that they think they should much less that they think they conceivably could do anything of the sort even if they wanted to. The USSR could have. Al Quaeda?????? That he would even suggest it is so typically Cheney.

We had an email conversation a month or so ago, but we haven't talked on the phone for over a year, which is awful and probably my fault for always being too swamped with work to think of calling until the middle of the night. She is the most wonderful woman and a great friend.

7. That f**k makes shit up as he goes along. Apparently the popular line
this month is to try to scare the shit out of people by telling them al Quaeda is after their kids.

We've murdered enough of thiers I think that most of the Iraqi people, old/young/al Quada/non-al Quaeda wish the same for us and our kids. Revenge is a bitch. Paybacks is a mother f**ker.

12. They lost it the day they started it.
These clowns had no idea what they were doing and they still don't. You cannot put people in gov't who choose to act on their delusions and fictional realities and expect good things to happen.

liked to hear him say, I hope the world grows more peaceful and the need for war will diminish so that you can serve your great country in a peace keeping manner ....Or......................? Anything but THAT!
