A crafty cat..
Hi all..I do art and crafts, too. I do sewing, leather, embroidery, beads, sculpy, refinishing old crappy furniture with psychedelic designs and freaky decoupage, I do woodworking, metalwork, murals, fabric dyeing, scroll saw insanity, and my flexible shaft is my best friend..but my egyptian sphinx 100 year old singer treadle machine..is my best freind too, (can't beat the control a treadle machine gives you for sewing and quilting everything from gossamer fabrics to leather, and if the power goes on the fritz I won't be bored...Got that wonderful thing for 25 bucks and the treadle was as smooth moving as glass,And it has egyptian decals all over it, too. When the guy said twenty five I nearly downloaded into my pants..Anyweays ...

Ever use dental picks to work with sculpy? I got mine for a buck apiece at a yard sale (once you use dental tools on sculpy every other tool sucks by comparison because dental tools stay cool because they are metal.Dental picks come in great shapes like little spoons and spatulas and they are precise, a knitting needle is also another indispensable tool for sculpy.Does anyone here mix brands like fimo with sculpy 3 because mixing the clays can add aloyt of strength and flexibility to a project...I know howe to do hotglass but Have not set up my freaking kiln,I do ceramics, too much to list here. But Yippieee...A craft forum, whatta kick ass idea!

1. hmmm.... dental tools
i don't know from sculpting. so when i wanted to make some face molds, i got the sculpy and enlisted the help of some of my mom's old religious statues. st. theresa of lisieux to be exact. mom had this nice sized statue and st. t was a willing accomplice. but a few of the faces could have used a little tweaking with a dental tool before i baked them. next time i try this again i'll get some tools like that.

sounds like you do a heck of a lot of crafting. it's so nice you found us!

3. I don't have a
kiln working yet I have a burnout oven that could fire 1 piece at a time. But if you have any felines, egyptian designs, mythical creatures or just weird stuff as molds let me know what ya got.

8. Actually
You could use a plaster mold to cast glass I cast a glass plate on a plaster mold I had taken kiln wash and dribbled lines on the plaster mold to look like a tree, than I got a sheet of clear and melted it into a plate with a tree embossing in it ..BUT depending on the size of what you cast, BE CAREFUL..check the COE types and cook it up real slow and cool it even painfully SLOWER especially if it's a BIG mold.!You don't want internal stress to be inside the glass when it cools at two or more different rates,or your beautiful piece will go Ping! one day and break itself in two!
