Buying Laptop - need advice...
Husband has taken over the home computer. I need a laptop that I can wireless route at home but also use WiFi. I think I will try to go I will use it primarily for pictures and journal-making and e-mails when I'm at work and when we are camping and on the road. Also want to use calendar and Outlook type functions.

Any suggestions? I'm terrible at research this stuff.

Are they all now set up for WiFi or do you have to buy a monthly service to get WiFi.

Can I share my Outlook at home (addresses, calendar dates, etc.)?

No suggestion or advice is too dumb for me.

Thank you!

1. I get my laptops on ebay from MergeTech

they sell the lease returns and we have two of them

their customer service is good too

but you will be getting a 2-3 year old machine that's been gone through, not the latest and greatest tech

edit to add, he doesn't have much stock right now, look for a box he wants $400-500 for and you'll be in good shape

2. How much do you want to spend?
If you want to spend sub-$1000, I'd suggest any flavor of Asus Eee pc. If you want to spend $1000-$2000, I'd suggest making the leap to Apple and get a macbook (either the plastic or new black glass variety). I think you would love the Mac os x system for its ease of use and out of the box functionality.

3. Thank you...
I ended up getting an HP, mainly because it was only $499. Came with no programs and thanks to my Mom I had heard about Open Office which is a free word processor, spreadsheet, data base software online. I'm going to use google calendar and since Vista comes with email it has contacts that's a good start. Cheap too! Like that and I love being wireless. Had to buy a router and now hubby can monopolize the PSIII on the main TV now. Good thing I can just take my computer to my greenhouse, or anywhere els to do what I need to do. Only one other thing to consider is photo software. hmmmm...
