Anybody watching the SOTU tonight?
Edited on Mon Jan-28-08 08:12 PM by gateley
I posted a question about who attends, and get the impression that essentially everyone does, so it's a Joe sighting opportunity.

I'm only really watching to see the Dem's reactions when they cut to audience shots. I'm hoping for a lot of eye rolling, head shaking, and if I'm blessed, a "what a fucking idiot" look from Joe.

8. I thought it was hysterical after his pause for FISA applause, the Reps all
stood up and applauded, the Dems all remained seated and didn't applaud! Ha!

It was eye-opening to see how he phrased things in a way that they would HAVE to get up and applaud. Like after his bullshit about the surge working so well he wrapped it up (with pause for applause) by saying something like "we vow to give you whatever you need to fight this war". Slick.

I actually enjoyed watching the reactions of the people, especially since I actually knew who some of them were, for the first time.

Interesting to see Kennedy and Obama sitting together -- like they're BFF's now or something.

Also interesting to see Joe next to Hillary -- I wondered if that was showing her some kind of support?

AND, it sure looked like Pelosi and Cheney were having a good 'ol time together up there. WTF?

the code book. Joe's a player who understands the apprehension and application of power. It's time to start making notes.

ON EDIT - I was writing and listening through the whole thing, so I missed all the shots of Joe....FUCK ME! Would they have made a MasterCard commercial? "A night at the State of the Union? (Biden rolls eyes, yawns) Priceless!"

13. You didn't miss all that much -- First time I saw him was when they
were showing Hillary, and you could just HALF of him sitting next to her.

Then they did give a full shot with "Senator Joseph Biden (D) Delaware" imposed.

Then a full shot of the two of them sitting there.

That's all I saw, anyway. But it was a thrill! :7

10. I think Joe is the kind of guy...
who always defends the underdog, and right now, that's Hillary. I also noted in the article last night, that was posted, he listed Hillary first when he told people who to vote for. Just little tid bits I notice, but I think he was saying something tonight by sitting next to Hillary. Not so much to support her, but that he probably knows she is being chastised unfairly.

11. I agree with that analysis completely...keep the fight fair, guys. Now,
if she just listens to him and tells Bill to STFU!

12. I agree in that my first thought was Joe was probably being a friend -- it must
have been pretty lonely for her there tonight with all the Bill crap that's been in the news and Kennedy's endorsement today.

On the other hand, VI might be right in that Joe is sending a signal.

There's a thread on GD asking about them sitting together, and a lot of hopeful posts that she might announce him as her choice for VP.

15. Oh, and I was watching her today on the senate floor..
Obama got lots of handshakes, and only a couple of people talked to Hillary. At least on camera anyway. I really think people are being overly mean to her. I really do.

16. I agree with that, too. "And the sins of the husband
are visited on the wife." Oh, how often THAT'S been true!
