U.S. Diplomat in Bolivia Walks Out on Morales Speech (Update1)
By Jonathan J. Levin

Jan. 22 (Bloomberg) -- The senior American diplomat in Bolivia walked out of a speech by President Evo Morales today after the Bolivian leader accused the U.S. Embassy in La Paz of trying to undermine his government.

“There was an external conspiracy headed by the United States ambassador,” Morales said before a group of congressmen and diplomats at the Bolivian Congress building in La Paz. “The United States has fomented the regional disintegration of the country, holding secret meetings to promote disturbances against the national government” ...

The Bolivian president declared U.S. Ambassador Philip Goldberg “persona non grata” in September, leaving Urs as the top diplomat to the Andean nation. Morales expelled the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration on Nov. 2, saying the agency had spied on his government. The U.S. Embassy called the accusations “false and absurd.”

Foreign Minister David Choquehuanca said Jan. 20 that the Bolivian government hoped for a “new beginning” with the U.S. after President Barack Obama took office, according to an e- mailed statement ...

1. Masters of deceit, these moral cripples at the US embassy in Bolivia. Who do they think they're
kidding? They've only got the degenerate right wing in the US to support their filthy actions.

This from the posted article:
“Respect is a two-way street,” Urs said. “If Morales needs or wants respect, then it’s also necessary that he give respect to the United States government.”
Excuuuuuse me, but anyone who takes a moment to research starts uncovering all kinds of evil acts perpetrated against the native Bolivians by US-supported monsters. Like this piece of filth, Hugo Banzer, in a short bio. written in 1995, before his last vicious degradation and destruction of even more Bolivians with his privatization of their water supply by US-based crapmasters Bechtel, before dying of cancer, not a moment too soon. At least he didn't go at the hands of government-employed torturers like the ones he used against native Bolivians:
COLONEL HUGO BANZER
President of Bolivia

In 1970, in Bolivia, when then-President Juan Jose Torres nationalized Gulf Oil properties and tin mines owned by US interests, and tried to establish friendly relations with Cuba and the Soviet Union, he was playing with fire. The coup to overthrow Torres, led by US-trained officer and Gulf Oil beneficiary Hugo Banzer, had direct support from Washington. When Banzer's forces had a breakdown in radio communications, US Air Force radio was placed at their disposal. Once in power, Banzer began a reign of terror. Schools were shut down as hotbeds of political subversive activity. Within two years, 2,000 people were arrested and tortured without trial. As in Paraguay, Argentina and Brazil, the native Indians were ordered off their land and deprived of tribal identity. Tens-of-thousands of white South Africans were enticed to immigrate with promises of the land stolen from the Indians, with a goal of creating a white Bolivia. When Catholic clergy tried to aid the Indians, the regime, with CIA help, launched terrorist attacks against them, and this "Banzer Plan" became a model for similar anti-Catholic actions throughout Latin America.

####ing clowns working in our embassies, still carrying that fascist baggage for Bush. Hope the new U.S. Government is going to pin their filthy ears back for them.

3. Absolutely right. First, the Fulbright scholar Peace Corp worker, then it was supported by other
Peace Corps workers who indicated they had been told they were expected to perform the same underhanded acts, and report back to the embassy.

If that guy hadn't come forward himself, because of his outrage, we never would have found out at all. Clearly it wasn't the best career move for him to make, as he probably got thrown out of the Peace Corps, what do you want to bet?

4. You're probably right. That's too bad, too, because a person with honor
is a loss to the organization.

5. A person with that much conscience would be exactly the kind of person most of us would feel proud
to know is representing us among people who've not met too many Americans.

Hoping he will find friends within the Obama administration if he is still in the Peace Corps. No doubt their standards are far, far higher.
