Headline
March 17, 2009

The decision was made in order to reveal if there are any alleged links between liberal senator Piedad Córdoba and the FARC. Juan Manuel Santos, Colombia’s Minister of Defense, will have to testify now what contents have been found in the computer which are related to Córdoba.

Santos already answered a questionnaire sent by the Supreme Court, but didn’t give any concrete details regarding the opposition politician.

1. Santos, 'da que te vienen dando'

4. You understand, of course, that Santos' comments will produce death threats against Córdoba
CASE N° CO/121 - PIEDAD CÓRDOBA
Resolution adopted unanimously by the Governing Council
at its 174rd session (Mexico, 23 April 2004)

The Governing Council of the Inter-Parliamentary Union,

Referring to the outline of the case of Ms. Piedad Córdoba of Colombia, as contained in the report of the Committee on the Human Rights of Parliamentarians (CL/174/12(b)-R.1), and to the resolution adopted at its 173rd session (October 2003),

Recalling that Ms. Córdoba was kidnapped on 21 May 1999 by the "Autodefensas Unidas de Colombia" (AUC) and held by them until 4 June 1999; upon her release, she had to go into exile owing to death threats, reportedly also made by the AUC; she returned to Colombia and has since been the target of attempts on her life, in December 2002 and in January 2003,

Recalling that an investigation was instituted into the kidnapping; the preventive detention of AUC leader Carlos Castaño Gil was ordered, and the investigation against him was closed pending the court's determination of whether the case against him could proceed to the trial stage; another person, Iván Roberto Duque Gaviria, was declared guilty in absentia,

Recalling that, at the time of the Secretary General's on-site mission to Bogotá (31 March and 1 April 2003), a new plan to kill Ms. Córdoba was revealed; recalling also that Ms. Córdoba has reportedly been receiving death threats ...

6. At least one of her bodyguards was killed during one of the attacks.
No doubt whatsoever they will pick her off anytime, any place they get a clean shot at it. There's been a fascist hate campaign against her for years.

She does have a lot of friends, however, no doubt about that whatsoever. She serves a far cleaner cause than the evil scum which has seized control of her country, and will kill everyone who gets in the road.

She visited her acquaintances, the Speaker and Jim McGovern.

5. Córdoba also seems to be a friend of Chavez
Piedad Córdoba is at odds with Chávez's reelection
The Senator substantiated her opinion
Western Hemisphere

Colombian Senator Piedad Córdoba, whose international image is linked to the pacification of her country, said on Thursday that she does not agree with the aspirations of President Hugo Chávez to be reelected, in spite of the fact that the Venezuelan leader considers the liberal legislator as one of his closest friends.

"I have formed a deep friendship with President Chávez; I have much respect for him; I love him a lot. We remain friends; I admire the whole process of the Bolivarian revolution," Córdoba said, referring to Chávez. "But if you ask me to make a choice, I would rather reelect the project" ... http://english.eluniversal.com/2009/03/05/en_pol_art_piedad-cordoba-is-at_05A2243723.shtml
