Below is a summary of a program that will air on the National Geographic Channel tonight, April 8, at 10PM (EDT). I just happened to hear this yo-yo being interviewed on my local Radio Pacifica station. The guy got caught for trying to smuggle cocaine out of Venezuela and whined for 10 minutes about his treatment in a Caracas jail. Luckily, the interviewer said, "I don't think any jail will be hospitable to a drug smuggler."
This is part of a general series focusing on judicial systems,no doubt, that the US would like to smear in one way or another.
"David Evans, a struggling musician in Atlanta, Ga., is having serious trouble making ends meet. When a club-goer named Melvyn offers David an opportunity to make $5,000 delivering cocaine from Venezuela to Europe, along with a vacation in a tropical climate, David sees an enticing way out. He doesnt tell his girlfriend, Julie, who plans to meet him in Amsterdam for a concert tour. Melvyn reassures David that the smuggling is safe. But when Davids suitcase loaded with aerosol cans containing cocaine is examined at the airport, he is imprisoned in Venezuela, sleeping on concrete floors with roaches, while Julie is abandoned in Europe."
