Guess who did NOT sign the final declaration of the Summit of the Americas
Edited on Fri Apr-24-09 04:20 AM by rabs
Only thirty-three of the hemisphere leaders, including Obama.

Earlier today ran across where Ortega had said the ALBA nations and other Latam leaders were NOT going to sign. So got curious about who did sign it and discovered that only one leader did, conference host PM Manning of Trinidad and Tobago.

What a slap in the face for the useless OAS, which had drafted the document BEFORE the conference.

Had to go to a Chinese source to find out the information. Did not see it in the MSM reports on the conference, but did see a lot of hoo-ha about the "handshake" and "the book."

Cannot recall when a summit of world leaders ended up with a final declaration that was not signed by the participants. We may be looking at a first.

1. That part got lost in the right-wing idiots' howling about the handshake!

There's a great photo flapping around somewhere of Eisenhower
shaking hands with Kruschev, posted by a DU'er on Thursday.

So, in other words, all the significant details about what actually happened at the Summit got completely lost in the uproar by the emotionally unstable, shabby Republicans.

They probably had higher expectations, but it's good to hear that Chavez believes something worthwhile happened in the psychological realm as the Latin American leaders were able to meet and assess who President Obama is, and how he relates to the rest of the Americas.

2. Am I mistaken or is that a signal to the US?
Or, maybe they ran out of pens? :)
