Hanoi, May 18 (Prensa Latina) Vietnam honored deceased president Ho Chi Minh on the occasion of the 119th anniversary of his birth, and remembered the 50 years of the Ho Chi Minh trail, running through the Truong Son mountain range.

Present in the activity were Nong Duc Manh, secretary general of the Vietnamese Communist Party Central Committee and Nguyen Phu Trong, leader of Parliament, among other political leaders.

The main speaker was Phu Trong, who highlighted the life and revolutionary cause of Ho Chi Minh (1890-1969), a national hero and founder of the Vietnamese Communist Party as well as the State of Vietnam, along with being an important world cultural personality.

Phu Trong also expressed sincere gratitude for the help of the Laotian and Cambodian people in the Vietnamese revolution and the construction of the Ho Chi Minh Road. He also expressed thanks for the support received from countries such as China, Cuba, Russia, and other countries.

Vietnamese Defense Minister General Phung Quang Thanh talked about the revival of the Ho Chi Minh Road (former Troung Son Line) and said it was a great achievement of Ho Chi Minh's strategic thinking.

The Ho Chi Minh Road was opened on a May 19, making the transfer of supplies to the fighters playing a significant role for the liberation of the south of Vietnam between 1959 and 1975, and was considered one of the greatest achievements in military engineering of the 20th Century, even by US experts.

Official delegations from Laos and Cambodia, and representatives of the embassies of Cuba, China and Russia attended the commemoration activity.

1. He was a super hero in his own country, to his own people.
People watched Nixon carefully at the time Ho Chi Minh died to see if he would at least acknowledge the passing of Vietnam's great leader but the event passed without a word.

He'll be remembered a very long time in his homeland.
