12 de junio de 2009, 13:36Quito, Jun 12 (Prensa Latina) Ecuador presented a demand before the Inter American Human Rights Commission (CIDH) against Colombia for its responsibility in the death of Franklin Aisalla.
This accusation against Bogota is for the violation of the right to life of citizen Franklin Aisalla, who was killed after Bogota bombed a camp of the Colombian guerrilla organization FARC, on Ecuadorian territory, in March of 2008. The bombing by the Colombian Air Force in the northern town of Angostura, killed 25 people, among them four Mexican students and FARC spokesman Raul Reyes.
A communique of the General Prosecutors Office published here on Thursday revealed that Aisalla was arbitrarily killed by Colombian public order forces in an operation, which also denied his relatives human rights.
The demand was presented by General Prosecutor Diego Garcia in a meeting with CIDH secretary general Santiago Canton.
After this action, Ecuadorian President Rafael Correa denounced what he called a deliberate violation of national sovereignty, and it is for that reason he decided to break diplomatic relations with Colombia.
