BREAKING -- Micheletti to step down from presidency for ONE week
Edited on Thu Nov-19-09 07:20 PM by rabs
Golpista president just made surprise announcement on nationwide radio and TV hookup.

Micheletti said he was taking the week off so Hondurans could have a "space for reflection" before the Nov. 29 voting. He will step down on Nov.25 and resume the presidency on Dec. 2.

He did not say he was resigning and if any disorder broke out, he would resume the presidency immediately and take all measures necessary to restore order.

Micheletti did not say who would be at the helm of the government the week he will be gone from the presidency.

This has been a bombshell in Honduras and CholsatSur trying to analyze what this means.

1. Oh, I think they should have a different president every week, one from each of the "ten families,"
hand-picked by Jim DeMint (Puke-SC), and that'll take them pretty much thru their absurd 'election' to Tweedle-dee or Tweedle-dum's crowning in January.

Seriously...

Mitchelleti has a public approval rating about where Bush's was in the final years of his ugly charade--and like Alan Garcia. 25% range. Mitcheletti is hated and makes the Junta look really bad. The Tweedles probably asked him to step down--and put anybody--anybody!--else on camera--the presidential maid, the janitor. (They'd probably make great presidents!)

Hey, I've got an idea! They do have a spare president hanging around--and, lo and behold, one who was elected, and more than that, one with a 67% approval rating! Why not have MEL ZELAYA fill the vacancy!

:applause:

2. Everyone is trying to figure this out.

First reaction by Z. was that it was a "crude political maneuver" by M.

Hillary's Craig Kelly was in Teguz this week and yesterday called on both sides to "send a signal" so that the elections (which State has said it will respect) can go forward.

So this may be have goriletti's "signal."

Micheletti said he was going to "ausentarse" for one week. That translates to his "being absent" from all public functions but apparently he will still retain power.

CODEH (Human rights commission) is saying that goriletti is "washing his hands" from any massacre that could occur on voting day.

M. called on all Honduras to go to the polls, but there is one person who will not
be able to cast his vote -- Z., the democratically elected president who is a political refugee in his own country.

then they'll play absent so everything looks legal with the oversight of the republicans who are asking Pelosi to approve their trip to honduras.

9. Wonder if State is paying attention to this

Earlier tonight on CholusatSur, the director of the Hospital Escuela, the largest public hospital in Teguz, was interviewed. He said the gorilettis' Health Secretariat had issued an order that all hospitals were to curtail services.

The order will be in effect from Nov. 19 (today) until Dec. 4.

Those services include all non-emergency surgeries. All non-critical patients are to be evacuated from all hospitals around the country. Non-emergency surgeries will be postponed, but emergency cases will be treated.

The director of the hospital said the Mormon Church had promised to provide 150 volunteers to donate to the blood bank.

So, in the past, national elections were considered to be a "fiesta nacional," but this report means .... I don't know what or why. But Pavon did issue a dire warning a few days ago of what could happen on Nov. 29.

10. Surely doesn't sound good, rabs. It's radical. Never heard of anything like this.
These people are as vicious as any other tyrannical group, anywhere. What a shame. Hoping so much something will end their war on Hondurans.

Their military really SHOULD mutiny.

11. They'll have elections
Once the new president is elected, life will go back to normal. Bananas will be grown, cows will be milked, nikes will be stitched, and Zelaya will continue to sleep on a chair in the Brazilian embassy. It's a plot for a Carlos Bunuel movie.
