Call Out Lanny Davis for his Lies in Support of Human Rights Abuses in Honduras

On June 28 the democratically elected President of Honduras Mr Manuel Zelaya was kidnapped and exiled at gunpoint by the SOA graduate led Honduran military. Swiftly after, a coup regime led by Mr Roberto Micheletti, illegally grabbed power. Since that time there have been thousands of human rights violations at the hands of the military and police.

Shortly following the military coup, Lanny Davis was hired by the Honduran Latin American Business Council (CEAL), the Latin American equivalent of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, to lobby against the elected Honduran leader that was deposed in the military coup. CEAL found Davis to be particularly well placed for the job, given his close ties to Hilary Clinton and other Washington insiders, and given the US stance on the crisis, it appears that Lanny is earning the at least $210,000 they have paid him so far.

Mr. Davis has sunken to utilizing demonstrably false statements in publications such as the Wall Street Journal in order to justify his clients’ coup government and their human rights violations. Not only is he being paid to immorally defend the indefensible, but he has also potentially violated legal rules of professional conduct through his lying ways. Ask the law firm that recently hired him, McDermott Will & Emery to put an end to their relationship with CEAL or put an end to their relationship with Attorney Lanny Davis.
