Airlines ask Venezuelan authorities to speed up foreign exchange allocation
El Universal: Representatives of the Venezuelan Chamber of Air Transport Companies (CEVETA) met with members of the Administration & Services Committee, Venezuelan National Assembly (AN) and urged them to mediate with the Executive Office to speed up the allocation of foreign exchange.

Eugenio Molina, CEVETA's president, said that the Foreign Exchange Administration Commission (CADIVI) has authorized the payment of part of the 2009 debt. However, there are still delays in the approvals of authorizations, which has had an impact on the purchase of spare parts.

In free countries companies don't have to ask governments for foreign currency, they just buy them in the market. Chavez however has taken over the currency market and apparently not doing a very good job of running it.

1. I figure he's keeping the oligarchs from looting the joint.
As usual, the teabaggers carry water for the moneyed class.

2. Please explain
How does denying airlines dollars so that they can buy jet fuel "keep the airlines from looting the joint"?

3. Also,
If you look at the Purdeval article I posted, it is the Chavezistas who are looting the country.

4. if they lack spare parts then....
It must be very dangerous to fly in those Venezuelan planes. Maybe the Venezuelans want to save fuel, because they don't have the money to pay for it.
