Honduran Students Step Up Protest Against Government On Education Reform
Posted on August 9, 2011 by mat

TEGUCIGALPA, Aug 9 (BERNAMA-NNN-PRENSA LATINA) – Honduran students have step protests against the Congress-promoted government attempt to privatise education.

Student groups occupied several secondary schools yesterday including the Pedro Nufio, Technical Honduras and central Vicente Caceres.

Jaime Rodriguez, president of the High School Education Teachers College (COPEM), declared himself in favour of the students’ protest.

Other education leaders appeared in radio programmes offering solidarity to the students’ action that remains firm in at least 50 schools.

Cecilio Baide, director of the Normal Pedro Nufio Institute, requested the police to evict the students from the facility through a message on local HRN radio station.
