So, was the Haiti quake a failure of US intelligence gathering?
Or what it a failure of US intelligence data-sharing?

Does it point to fundamental flaws in the US intelligence network that imperils national security?

No, no, and no.

Are thousands of people injured? Are thousands of people dying? Are thousands of people starving and dehydrated? Is there great risk of pandemics of disease? Has their domestic infrastructure for food, water, transportation, and medical care collaped?

Yes, yes, yes, yes, and yes.

Is fast talking and fast action warranted?

Oh, hell yes.

Rush Limbaugh, shut your trap you callous, stone-hearted, compassionless, hyper-partisan waste of protoplasm. You and your anodized-aluminum microphone can go do Hell.

1. Back in the day, on DU, when the Tsunami hit - some here blamed bush for it - mini rush's?
Some even thought it might be a new weapon we were testing.

It is not just the right that spews such things.

2. Not surprised
I bet somebody thought we detonated a nuclear bomb underwater or something! :-)

But Thom Hartmann or Randi Rhodes wasn't on air saying the people of Indonesia don't deserve any aid because they don't produce!

Rush is an idiot.

3. Well said. It's MIHOP or LIHOP -- oh just you wait --

It'll go like this:

What with a huge, aircraft-carrier-studded fleet of the U.S. Navy steaming down to Haiti, CLEARLY this whole "event" was engineered by American imperialists deep within the Military-Industrial-Complex (MIC).

Now we really know why we BOMBED THE MOON -- we were practicing bombing some fault-line. It wasn't about lunar ice, or even about moon coke! It was about practicing to crack key spheres in the solar system. Obviously we sent a few "rods from god" or some small-sized nuclear weapon into the Haitian highlands when no-one was looking - just so that we could come with our evil occupationist forces under the pretext of "humanitarianism" to give us a prefect pretext to TAKE OVER.

We just want to steal Haiti's oil. That's all this is about.

:sarcasm:

4. We knew this would happen. (Actually, we did.)
Nobody wanted to invest the money to rebuild everything near the fault from the ground up.

Kind of like how we know about the coming Portland earthquake, and more semi-regular "big ones" in the SF bay area, and the next Alaska big one.

We just don't know when, or what their seat numbers will be.

5. Well, Howard Fineman Is Already Calling Haiti, President Obama's Katrina - Corporate Media
Edited on Thu Jan-14-10 03:47 AM by TomCADem
The corporate media is in full attack mode:

http://blog.newsweek.com/blogs/thegaggle/archive/2010/01/13/why-hurricane-katrina-looms-over-obama-s-relief-efforts-in-haiti.aspx?gt1=43002

Of course, does that mean that we can blame the Indonesian Tsunami on Bush, too?

This just shows that the pundits will resort to anything to stop the Democrats and liberal causes.

6. What an idiot.
Not you, Fineman.

Haiti is not on US soil. It's a souvereign country, theoretically our peer on the internationsl stage. Congress and Obama can't just do stuff in and for Haiti like they could if, say, the quake happened in California.

Might as well say that Iraq is Obama's Katrina. :eyes:

7. You BET it's a failure of intelligence gathering
The CIA has totally fallen down on the task of monitoring the Mole People.
