FL-SEN POLL: Crist 38, Rubio 32, Meek 19
Mason-Dixon: Crist 38, Rubio 32, Meek 19

Discuss This: Comments(0) | Add to del.icio.us | Digg it A new Mason-Dixon poll shows Gov. Charlie Crist leading a three-way race for U.S. Senate by 6 percentage points, but pollster Brad Coker warns the numbers may be a bit misleading.

Crist, a newly-minted independent, is drawing strong support from Democrats and African-American voters. Trouble for him is, that may be only temporary.

Fully 40 percent of voters say they still don’t know who Kendrick Meek is, and Coker said as Meek’s profile rises, those Democratic and African-American voters are likely to gravitate toward him. Meek, a Congressman from South Florida, is the likely Democratic nominee and is African-American.

“When you see that more than half of Crist voters are Democrats, that’s a big red warning sign,” said Coker.

Former House Speaker Marco Rubio appears well on his way to locking up the Republican vote. He’s capturing about 70 percent of the GOP, while Crist is getting 18 percent and Meek is getting 3 percent.

Among Democratic voters, 48 percent favor Crist, 36 percent support Meek and 4 percent back Rubio.

2. Meek needs to get out of the basement
or Crist needs to become the progressive's "lesser evil" choice.

I'd prefer to see Meek get out of the basement.

3. Rubio
The independent vote will swing the election, and Rubio has a much further run to the center than either Crist or Meek. Meek will take away the Democrats who are supporting Crist right now while Rubio loses some of his Republican support to Crist.

Hopefully a majority of the independents swing Meek's way, or in the worst case, swing Crist's way. Rubio is a class-A nutcase.

Meek's numbers have to improve to give him a fighting chance.

6. Crist will win this.
Most Dems and Indys will wind up voting for him, myself included. Rubio needs to be stopped.

7. If Meek has a chance
will you vote for him? Seems like your vote is anti-Rubio right now, rather than for Crist, or for Meek, for that matter.
