Obama speech too "professorial" for his audience.

President Obama's speech on the gulf oil disaster may have gone over the heads of many in his audience, according to an analysis of the 18-minute talk released Wednesday.

Tuesday night's speech from the Oval Office of the White House was written to a 9.8 grade level, said Paul J.J. Payack, president of Global Language Monitor. The Austin, Texas-based company analyzes and catalogues trends in word usage and word choice and their impact on culture.

Though the president used slightly less than four sentences per paragraph, his 19.8 words per sentence "added some difficulty for his target audience," Payack said.

Is it sad top anyone else that a speech at the 9th grade level is said to be "aloof" to the mass audience?

3. It is pretty sad - and I think that these people are condesending
I also notice that they never score the run on sentence messes that have gone on for more than 100 words by Palin. A well written sentence with 20 words is not hard to understand. (Parsing Palin's text into a logical, comprehensible structure is beyond my ability!)

4. This is some kind of Goddamned Bitch. Seriously---now it's definite. People HATE him!!!
Edited on Thu Jun-17-10 09:26 AM by vaberella
This is not fuckin' policy or decision making---they just outright hate him.

They were like he didn't go into "cap and trade" and this or that about "green house gases" and now they're claiming he was too professorial for people. One minute he's not emotional...next moment he looked weak and beaten down, another moment he wasn't angry enough or not show leadershiop next he's a typical Chicago fuckin' thug trying to muscle his way to get what he wants.

What the fuck do people want!?! I hate the pundits and some of the people on DU and I 100% despise the Republicans.

Just so you all know...for a lot of the American people---Obama came through 100%. And 110% for the people in the gulf region.

I don't care what this scientist said, people got it. Seriously. I don't have much faith in the American people but I don't think they're their all below a third grade level.

9. Translation: He didn't dumb it down enough for most Americans.
Because so many are fucking "morans" who can't understand words with more than 4 letters and can't spell for shit either.
