Photo: Bromance?
(been out of pocket a bit and have apparently missed some good photos)

President Barack Obama, Vice President Joe Biden, and former President Bill Clinton attend at a memorial service for Sen. Robert Byrd, Friday, July 2, 2010, at the Capitol in Charleston, W.Va.

2. Joe telling a funny joke again?
At least there were some smiles at the funeral of Sen. Byrd. I am the type of person who believes that if someone lived a long, good life like Sen. Byrd did then a funeral should be about celebration of that person's life then of just total sadness.

7. A celebration of life, indeed!
When my great-grandmother passed just three months short of her 100th birthday, you would have thought it was a comedy club. She had the best personality, the most awesome sense of humor, and I just know she would have approved. Every year at her birthday we'd say, Grandma, you are almost 100! Yay! And she would say, who wants to live to be that old?? I whispered "who wants to live to be that old?" in my sister's ear... and said, she died three months shy on purpose! It was all we could do not to split a gut!

Granny was so loved.

8. My Grandma is getting up there, she will be 90 this year. We share the same birthday.

When she is no longer here, my b-days just won't be the same. But I hope we have a lot of laughs at her eventual funeral (which I hope is not for 10 years or so!), she is quite a hoot now. Still full of life but definitely slowing down.

I know what you mean... you get used to sharing that day, no question.

I love grandparents who are a hoot! You are quite fortunate:)

19. :)
She was beautiful, and stubborn! If she didn't want to be 100, well gulldurnit, she didn't have to!

The product of a one room school and a 6th grade education, I swear she was smarter and more knowledgeable than most of the people I know.

25. livejournal has some very talented artists.
The Battlestar fans have some pics that are absolutely HYSTERICAL. Ditto for the Smallville haters.

I've always been more of a Barahm shipper myself - they are both very attractive men. There's also something to be said for Hillbama - their previous enmity adds a certain frisson, if you can dig that. But the Joey fangirls are a riot.

(Disclaimer: I really am serious about politics, but I like to have some good clean dirty fun now and again.)

13. Joe's probably attended plenty of Irish Catholic funerals -- and they can be a hoot!
The "gatherings" at the house after my parents died were no different from the raucous parties they threw over the years. Truly a celebration of our good fortune to be able to be part of their lives.

This is a great shot, thanks as always, Clio! :hi:
