A question
What happens if one of our appointed Senators (Bennett, Kauffman, WV's guy, Gillibrand, Burris) has his or her seat change party in the election. My assumption is that we would have the winner in WV seated immediately but the rest wouldn't. Is that the case?

2. I believe only Burris would remai until the end of this congress.
The CO, WV, DE, and NY elections are special elections, so the winner can be seated whenever determined. The IL election is not a special election, since the term Burris is completing expires in January anyway, and the elction in November is for the term beginning in January. I could be mistaken if any of those states has a special law for that situation.

3. Here in Chicago, we have to vote for a senator twice.
They decided that people have to vote twice for a senator on election day. Once for the interim senator and once for the real senator. No matter what happens, Burris is gone Nov. 3.

4. Are they not sworn in for the remainder of the current session?
... and MY question, why is Murkowski losing her leadership positions NOW? Why cant she keep them until January?
