1. Actually he is a JFK democrat
Edited on Wed Dec-01-10 12:27 PM by WI_DEM
JFK was also called "too slow" and "too moderate" on domestic issues by many liberals and Civil Rights groups.

3. No
Definitely more Nixonian. Obama is undermining the Constitution and Bill of Rights regarding civil liberties much like Nixon. Obama illegally snoops on Americans again like Nixon.

Obama also denigrates his base and treats us with disdain and suspicion. Kennedy praised and lifted his base.

The country is unraveling and Obama does not have a clue, much like Nixon was clueless as to the condition of the country.

7. Obviously you need to learn more about various presidents
Edited on Wed Dec-01-10 12:43 PM by WI_DEM
Not condoning Nixon but there was plenty of using the IRS and wiretapping under JFK including Martin Luther King, Jr. As for uplifting--many Americans are uplifted by Obama as they were by JFK. And I can guarantee you that if the internet was around in 1961-1963 and there was a DU that JFK would be getting the same type of day in and day out criticsm that Obama gets here.

14. Sorry, but you are wrong.
Some of us have actually studied that period and lived through it.

Obama is nothing like JFK. Not in personality or style of governing.

in saying what I did. Many liberal and Civil Rights groups were disappointed in President Kennedy for going too slow on civil rights and if you truly have studied that period then you would acknowledge that. (do you recall the campaign by civil rights groups to send pens to President Kennedy who said in 1960 he could eliminate discrimination in federal housing with a 'stroke of a pen' and didn't do it for nearly two years?) That is not to say that in the end he didn't contribute a great deal to Civil Rights. Here is, I think, a fair assessment:

http://www.historylearningsite.co.uk/john_kennedy_and_civil_rights.htm

Kennedy had problems with a Democratically controlled congress, too, just the same as President Obama. In the Senate Obama has had difficulty because of the GOP using the filibuster threat. Kennedy's challenges were more difficult due to Southern Democrats controlling committees. He knew he couldn't move too fast on that issue and it would jeopardize his other domestic agenda--including across the board tax cuts. It was only after Birmingham in 1963 that JFK got more aggressive on civil rights--events forced him to and public opinion was shifting.

Obama's and Nixon's progressive achievements. Obviously both had limited progressive moves.

13. Obama is doing the same thing.
Spying on people's phone calls, emails, TSA porno scanners and genital gropings - doing all that while verbally demeaning progressives.

Obama is letting his agencies treat ordinary Americans like criminals, people like peace activists are being treated as terrorists.
Sure reminds me of Nixon.

21. Check out the Repub 1960 platform
I did that a few days ago..........the Repugs and Nixon (UGH!) were way to the left of where Obama is today. In fact, I would accept most of that platform today. I am a long time disliker of Nixon. So this is not an endorsement to bring back that sicko.
