LOL - Can we be taken seriously?
Edited on Wed Dec-01-10 01:00 PM by wowimthere
What is the United States coming to? The Republicans have lost their minds. Democrats seem to need a spine implant.

What is going on that tickles me? I have to laugh to keep from crying.

-The Deficit Commission came to the conclusion we should make cuts entitlement programs, raise the retirement age which affects the working class and get this - Give tax breaks to the very wealthy. LOL! We're supposed to have a straight face at this point but I'm sorry, I feel like I'm watching Saturday Night Live.

-Independents who normally are thought to be commonsensical voted the same crew that got us into this mess back into power. Where was the commonsense in that?

-Sara Palin believes she should be president and she doesn't even know where Putin is or what side we should be on where North Korea is concerned. I thought this country was pretty far gone when Bush got elected for a second term but when the congress went Red this past election confirmation is solid.

-Fox news continues to rule the ratings roost. Hi-Lar-i-ous! It reminds me of Saturday morning cartoon. It's like someone just keeps playing a bad joke on us and we keep falling for it. There is NO Way Fox is number 1 without some chicanery going on. I'm waiting for Toto to pull the curtain back and reveal Beck as Nielson.

-Democrats had majorities in both houses and passing legislation was like 110 year old grampa passing a gall stone.

-We are the only sophisticated armed forces who believe gays in the military affects unit cohesion. Check this out. We had a commander in chief lie us into a war and somehow gays who want to fight for their country is the military's biggest problem.

-This country needs constant reminding that the Republicans caused the economic meltdown. All of a sudden we have amnesia when it comes to who got us into this mess. And then funny thing happened on the television - Media exclaims - Obama has lost the independents. Wrong! Obama didn't lose the independents. The INDEPENDENTS ARE LOST. They don't know where they are. They don't know who they are. They don't know where they live. They don't even know what good commonsense is. We can't look to a part of the electorate who doesn't even really know what they stand for to lead the entire country. Remember they voted for change too. And then they stopped paying attention.

-The GOP are to be believed in any logical measure? LOL. LOL. They have lost their minds and we're letting the country fly off the hinges as we sit back and watch the silly show. The democrats are best for getting this country back in order but let's face it, Republicans lie much better than the Democrats can govern.

America is falling behind and falling down on its responsibility to serve its people not because we elected the first Bi-Racial president in our history. We elected the best candidate. It is falling down because of capitulation to the lunatic fringe on the right of our political divide. It's falling behind because it can't remember from one year to the next how we got here. It's falling down because it relies too heavily on the media (truth and facts aside) to do our fact checking for us. (Remember: this is the same media that climbed on board the "Shock and Awe" bandwagon and asked no questions) This country is falling behind because a few democrats are confused about what party they belong to, confused about who really needs help in this country. A big tent is great but it's not a good excuse for falling down and behind when we keep letting turncoats breach the security check points of good common sense.

but all of America is in the midst of an emotional breakdown. Common sense is routinely shouted over by the deranged.

6. The Republicans didn't either.
But somehow Bush got almost everything he ever wanted and more. The Republicans just got fatter, richer and happier.

7. Republicans never had 60 either
Republicans never had 60 Senate seats either. Never. Yet, somehow, they managed to pass the PATRIOT Act, the Bush Tax Cuts, fund illegal wars, etc., etc.

How is that? Oh yeah, cuz Democrats cave, and Republicans latch onto their agenda like a rabid pit bull, never letting go.

If this lame duck Congress adjourns with no unemployment benefits extension AND a tax cut for income >$250,000, I will be changing my voter registration to unaffiliated. This is my line in the sand. Democrats can use their remaining time in the majority, or they can lose my last shred of respect.

12. Bush tax cuts passed with 51 votes
After a tied 50-50 vote, Vice-President Dick Cheney cast the deciding aye to move the Bush tax cuts forward.

the majorities like we should have. Bush passed legislation with a small majority. We should have done the same.

5. Some really, REALLY good questions and observations.
Note that I am not referring to your comment on FNC as I have officially no comment on that score for obvious reasons.

Other than that, K&R.

9. I was talking to a Brazilian student where I work
She said that the Democrats will ever stop the GOP because the Democrats have no spine, no resolve, no courage. It floored me how matter of fact she was about it.

13. The Dems think that if they do the work of the Elite
They'll get a piece of the pie.

They will, but they'll be have to live with being tarred by their complicity. Sell Bill Clinton for more details.

10. Another bone of contention...Net nuetrality on... NOW net nuetraility GONE!
Dems are starting to slow walk everything. I don't remember the Republicans doing this when they were in power. You can get a lot done in the Lame Duck session and it looks like they're going to LET the Republicans do what they want. Is there another Berny Saunders out there? Mr. President can you hear us?

17. So FoxNews is number one in cable news, which is not the same
as being number one is TV news, or in news, just cable news. It means they get higher over all ratings than CNN and MSNBC. That is all it means. The number of people watching a Fox 'newscast' is tiny compared to the number watching any of the three broadcast network newscasts.
They are number one compared to other really tiny cable audiences.
