Poll shows Republicans are definitely not winning the tax cut debate
AP-CNBC Poll: Deficit-cutting ideas not popular

<...>

One group that people seem increasingly willing to target is the rich. In a turnaround from early November, most oppose extending expiring tax cuts for the highest-earning Americans. Just 34 percent want to renew tax cuts for everyone; 50 percent prefer extending the reductions only for those earning under $250,000 a year and 14 percent want to end them for all.

2. Here's a chance for Obama to practice bipartisanship with REAL republicans
Not creepy orange congressmen but actual voters who might be persuaded to see the light and vote in their own self interest in 2012.

Why the hell would he NOT want to take a strong public position in opposition to the extension of these millionaire tax cuts? He has public opinion on his side, he has the leadership in the house on his side, and he can surely browbeat Harry Reid into moving the "Obama Middle Class Tax Cuts" forward.

It's a win win but he's still talking this mealy mouthed working together bullshit. Now that Rahm Emanuel is gone who is giving him this crappy advice?

3. Seems someone can read the poll. The reps. are crying about hurting the bipartisan good will.
".... hurting the bipartisan good will."

Bah, ha ha ha, talk about having balls! Those jerks think the definition of "bipartisan" means 'our way'.
Three cheers for Steny!

"House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D) reiterated that the will of House Democrats was to bring to the floor legislation that would only extend the Bush cuts for the middle class -- individuals who make $200,000 and below, and families at $250,000 and below."

8. If he caves, (I believe he will.) it will be time to see him as a
supporter of the wealthiest 1% at the expense of the nation.

6. When polls like this are pointed out to Repubs. on TV, they dismiss them, saying
it depends on how the question is asked. Yet they STILL claim they're doing what the American people want. :eyes:

11. Most of our leaders aren't even giving our message and it's still winning
Imagine how much more support there would be for letting tax cuts expire on the rich if democrats were actually on the news every day accusing republicans of holding middle class tax cuts hostage in order to give tax cuts to the wealthiest 2%.

Imagine how much better off we'd be if the house and senate actually had a vote on the tax cuts, with the richest 2% tax cuts and everyone's elses as separate votes. If republicans killed the middle class tax cuts then we could have gone into the election shouting that republicans have proven that they only care about tax cuts for the rich, not for middle class people like the rest of the us.
