Nancy Pelosi DEEPLY UNHAPPY - could be progressive REVOLT in House
This according to Victoria Jones (Talk Radio News Service), reporting on Thom Hartmann's show.

Also, more Dems in Senate willing to stay in town through Christmas to get something done.

36. Someone needs to stand up to the Repukes.

This idea of sparing the uber wealthy - as they wag the carrot of UI for the unemployed - when there is so much suffering in this nation is profane.

May their greed and their benefactors' greed bite them in the ass.

7. It's not a done deal
Evidently the first report came from the Daily Caller, which is a RW source:

President Obama’s Outline of Possible Yet Not Quite Done Deal on Tax Cuts – Including a $120 Billion Payroll Tax Reduction

<...>

This deal has not been agreed upon yet – and in fact President Obama’s meeting with Democratic congressional leaders has gone longer than expected, indicating some possible pushback. The president, Vice President Biden, and Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner have been working this proposal all weekend with congressional leaders.

The Daily Caller’s Jon Ward was first to report some of these details.

The deal being reported makes no sense.

9. I hope those Democratic leaders in Congress are giving the others hell
IF they are capitulating to the GOP's demands. Nancy and her gang need to turn into wolves and take Obama, Biden, Geithner out to the woodshed if needed.

There are too many damn Democratic Senators that are useless. And just like the HCR the Senate is causing the blockage.

11. Here is why I don't listen to posts here.
But muse on function not data.

If anything I say was thought to have value, there would have been some things that occurred, and since those things have not happened, I know either what I type does not have value to them, so what is posted here would not be in that context, or nobody sees it anyways.

Or what is posted here has nothing to do with what people are doing, and thinking on function removes any accidental association of context.

Although I like Nancy, why, because when I think of her, I get a good vibe. Literally that's why :D

12. A progressive revolt in the House
would be wonderful, as far as I'm concerned.

In 2007 I attended a progressive conference in Washington, DC, and I tell you, the delegates to the conference were light years ahead of Pelosi on everything. She was booed, as I recall for being so cautious and wishy-washy, despite the Democratic gains. None of us understood WTF she was holding back for. This, even as she was famously saying, "Elections have consequences."

13. It will "look like" a Progressive Revolt...and, indeed it might be a few, but it's Smoke & Mirrors
because whatever the House (while it's still Dem) will never be able to overcome Harry Reid and the Senate who destroy whatever the House does.

Don't get hopes up..because we've been through this so many times. I feel sad for those House Members who work so hard trying to get their legislation proposals passed...but Senate always blocks. Those who have been Good Dems must be really feeling sad knowing they will be gone in two years (those who survived the last purge where Repugs threw the poo in their faces.

Next year they are the Back Benchers...resorting to "One Minute Speeches" and being trashed by the BULLIE BOYS AND GALS..

It's sad that our House Members had to be reduced to this after Tim Kaine's fecklessness and Rahm Emmanuel's ineffectiveness.

JMHO...Harry Reid should have gone down in Nevada. He should have paid for his incompetence but he's the Repugs BEST FRIEND...so he got by in that election.

16. Pelosi would have a hard time pulling off a progressive revolt. Assuming
that almost all of the Republicans in the House vote for the compromise because it extends the tax cuts for the rich, all they would need is less than 40 House Democrats to go along with them. Realistically, I don't see a progressive revolt succeeding.

45. Probably even fewer blue dogs than that by the time all is said and done.
It's likely that some of the positioning (by republicans) during this lame-duck session is to give a handful of them cover to switch parties. There have already been something like two dozen party switchers at the state level (four in Alabama alone this week that gave them a "filibuster"-proof super-majority in both houses when they were in the minority in both last month). We could easily see a handful of these blue-dogs follow the same path (as happened in '94).

29. So we will have more theater...
The deal is done.

So what we will have for the next week or so is all the opponents lining up and making noise, appealing to the base, throwing red meat to activists, etc. Many on DU will get excited thinking there will really be a "progressive revolt", but it won't be a revolt that stops anything. A few people will oppose it and crawl out from under the bus, others will go along and be unpopular for awhile, etc, etc - all nothing but theater.

And in the end, the "deal" will be approved in the House and Senate. The President signed off on it and there are more than enough Democrats in the House and Senate when paired with Republicans in the House and Senate to pass it. Everyone knows it, all the rest is for show.

And any delay only helps Republicans by the way. They are happy to drag it out for an extra week or so hoping to tie up the lame duck Congress from handling other business.

The House held to Democratic principles while the WH wheeled and dealed them away.

Don't think Pelosi is the one -- as I recall she is DLC?

But we need liberals Democrats to step up now ---

and we need to be discussing what we can all do as liberals together re a Plan B.

Many have called on dems to extend their time over this two years to longer hours

This is still a good idea even if a bit late!!
