No, They Should Be Called Republicans.
After the fiscally conservative but socially quasi-liberal Republicans, also called Rockefeller Republicans, were chased out of the official Republican Party by the Goldwaterites and the Christian extremists, they entered the Democratic Party, under the banner of the Democratic Leadership Council (DLC) where they proceeded to successfully take over control of the Democratic Party. Thus we got Bill Clinton and now Barack Obama, both of whom carried out traditional Republican fiscal policies.

President Obama, like his friend, Joe Lieberman, who Obama supported for President in 2004 and kept as chair of the Senate Homeland Security Committee after he ran in opposition to the official Connecticut Democratic candidate, Lamont, do not believe in the traditional Democratic Party values of providing for the needs of the majority of Americans. They are Republicans, albeit not Christian extremists. (but Joe Lieberman is an Israeli extremist).

Virtually ever act President has taken since his election have served the interest of the DLC Republicans and their big corporate supporters.

We need to take back the Democratic Party to its democratic roots.
