President Obama has great disdain for progressives. His tone and his words have made it very
clear.

He twisted our passion for the public option into an unrecognizable mumble jumble.

What the heck was THAT?

15. What progress? The wealth gap is growing and the job market still sucks.
We still don't have an energy bill. Health care prices are still rising. The GLBT community is still waiting.

Must I go on?

29. Me "move the goal posts"? Holy shit!! Now I've seen it all.
Those are the best examples you could come up for progressive accomplishments with a super-majority congress and democratic president?

With expectations like that Democrats could give you shit in a bucket and you'd be happy.

36. Yes, bills were delivered, but in the scheme of things given the majority in both
houses, and knowing it was short lived, much of the political capital of the 2008 election was left on the table and President Obama didn't take the GOP to task by stepping up to the bully pulpit in prime time to tell the people what was what.

This WH stood by while the teabaggers and GOP co-opted the message and re-framed the talking points to make HCR a bad actor.

Obama did not sell HCR. But he sure found his voice at the podium today to scold, of all people, progressives who want a seat at the table for ALL people.

4. He was correct in his assessment.
Deal with it....since that's what he's doing; dealing with us.

Primary him if you'd like....

but the truth is that many Progressives here don't believe that the Health Care bill
was any good at all.

And now, it's more of the same....

always about what we didn't get,
never about what we got.

Progressives bolted from here just yesterday talking about being "done".
That was based on their distain of the President's actions.
and yet, you point your finger at him instead.
Why?

Whether I get it all or just some, moving forward is the goal.....

You don't have to like it, and in fact I see you don't. That's your right.

My right is to continue working toward progress instead of cutting off my nose
to spite someone. Spite and disgust doesn't amount to progress.....it only
amounts to what we saw in November; folks defeating themselves to make a point
that doesn't help anyone, and then pointing the finger in blame, as though
that's an answer.

21. I disagree that we're moving forward, but that's not the point.
The point is that he got more angry, passionate, and condescending towards progressives than he ever does against republicans.

I'm happy, like you, that we got health care reform, but it easily could have been more. Until someone proves to me otherwise, we had 50 votes for a public option. That is something he insisted he wanted, and the only information I've seen regarding dropping it was his promise to the insurance companies. That was the specific thing he mentioned in his press conference. Now, do you know something I don't? Because, if not, I'm going to continue to stay pissed.

meanwhile, "My point" is that the middle class with not see their taxes raised,

Yours is more about you, mine is more about all Americans.
WHy does that make you the Liberal......?

I'm pissed because I see ALL AMERICANS benefiting from a public option.

I'm pissed because I see ALL AMERICANS (minus the rich) working harder for less without more progressive/liberal policies.

I'm pissed because the Democrats had a super majority and pissed it away be giving in to the minority Republicans.

And now I have to listen to someone I supported for two years yell at me more than the Republicans because I want a more progressive world for ALL PEOPLE.

Don't you fucking dare act like you care about all Americans, and I don't. You're better than that.

...you cant 'slogan away' reality. This bill hurts, not helps, the unemployed.

Two more years of Bush tax cuts = two more years of continued unemployment and falling wages. Bush tax cuts caused all of this economic collapse. More Bush tax cuts will only make it last longer. The cancer is not the cure.

The last President who had progressive leanings was LBJ. It certainly wasn't Carter and for sure, not Clinton.

Of course, it's easier to see the value in progress when you're getting shat upon constantly by the people who claim to support you.

Then again, the LGBT community tends to be anti-war. And pro-union. And pro-women's rights. And pro-African American rights. And pro-Hispanic rights. And, and, and...

And then our rights come up for a vote and the people we support and protect are nowhere to be found to support and protect us.

66. Did he have the votes?

No. To answer your question to "What the heck was THAT?". Maybe you need to educate yourself on politics before spewing
this crap.

68. Then he should have gotten the votes, or done something else.
He's pathetic.

69. I wonder what side of the formula he would have taken during the Civil Rights era?
I really don't know anymore.

76. If you want to see what "real" disdain looks like,
just read the last 2 years worth of DU posts, including your own.

80. Assuming the President sold you out, what have you done so far
to reverse his decision? Numbnuts!

Stop pounding the keyboard and crying for the whambulance, get out and make a difference if you feel so disenfranchised!

83. How much respect did bomb-throwing progressives have for Obama?
The "every opinion is inferior to my own" crowd does not deserve respect when they refuse to grant it to others.

It doesn't matter if the arrogance is Beck or Cenk, a disrespectful bomb-thrower is not making progress... as noise is not progress.

84. You know, it is DU and one cannot really express how we feel on
here, but the shit that is allowed on DU is unbelievable! They bash this President as though he is their yard boy and DU keeps making changes to its rules. Am so tired of this shit on here. Gotta find me a different site where President Obama is not bashed 24/7!

85. I don't mind the well thought "bash".
It's the pile-on bashings that make me hit "ignore".

An enterprising person could certainly come up with other options, as many have.

86. He has disdain for childish assholes who just so happen to be progressive.
That's very different from saying he has disdain for progressives.

89. That was the prez positioning himself to win back indies at our expense...
He should finally be happy - the bullies he's been desperate to reach finally think he's doing the right thing.
