Anyone notice how Obama said not extending tax cuts PERMANENTLY is a line in the sand?
So, as long he keeps kicking them down the road for the next President, does that mean he's keeping his promise?

3. Serious question.
Is there really such a thing as making them permanent anyway? If they were made "permanent" couldn't any future President just revise them?

16. If they were premanant, it would take an act of Congress to change them
Temporary ones expire if Congress fails to act.

9. Yes, and that's the weakest, most pathetic "line in the sand" I can imagine.
It is positively weasly.

Very disappointing.

How in the world can tax cuts be made "permanent" anyway- short of, as you suggested, indefinitely extending them, or somehow managing writing them into the constitution? Any future Congress at any point in the future could techinically refuse to extend (or rescind) them, right?
