Ok, here's the point everyone is missing.....
Obama can honestly say "I didn't want to play politics with the Middle Class and the Unemployed... so I made the deal"

now, when new things are introduced in the weeks to come, and the GOP shoots them down..

"WELL I DIDN'T PLAY POLITICS WITH PEOPLE ECONOMIC LIVES.. THEY ARE!"

1. It should NEVER have come to the point where the unemployed were allowed to become pawns in this
crapfest that was totally controlled by the repukes.

The unemployment situation, and the tax extensions should have been high priority subjects way before the midterms.

It is kind of risky to wait until the front wheels are hanging over the edge of the cliff and THEN apply your brakes.

.. put yourself in the place of those that would have no more unemployment after Jan 1 or paycheck shrinks.

it's not good, but it's better than MAKING those people pawns.

7. It should not have come down to the end of December for this to be decided. THAT is the point.

Why wait until you have no more wiggle room to start trying to do something?

This entire subject, the unemployment and the tax cuts, should have been taken care of BEFORE THE MIDTERMS.

They are totally unrelated, and should never have been allowed to be linked. The unemployed should never have to be held hostage for
uber rich tax cuts. Superb strategy by the repukes..and incompetence by the dems. The repukes made the unemployed into the pawns in THEIR chess game. The Dems were either complicit or stupid.
Once again, the repukes were Lucy and the Dems were Charlie Brown.

8. It would seem you aren't looking past your arms length
Those unemployment benefits will expire long before the tax cuts. And one didn't have to be linked with the other. If you think it was a great deal, fine. Think that... but it didn't have to be an either or.

I just read the blurb on his speech at TPM, wondering what they will "hold hostage" next. And, we all know damn well that they will, since they know they can get away with it.

11. Wait, so saying he wasn't playing politics is...a political ploy
so he can say the other guys are the ones playing politics?

See anything wrong there?
