A year from now, do we have another debate about extending unemployment benefits?
And will the Repubs vote against it? What will the Democrats use for leverage when there is no taxcuts to extend? Will they still fight for the unemployed anyway? Will they succeed? Or will the Repubs block them at every turn?

And how will that argument a year from now be different from the argument now??

1. Of course, that's the beauty of this deal...and then taxes in 2012..
That's why the Republicans are just as pleased as can be. The Democrats have stepped into another trap. And they can be beat up for the next two years leading up to the elections.

2. Try doing today.
Guessing tomorrow isn't very productive.

4. No, that's not true.
There is plenty of gain, both short and long term. Refusing to see it is questionable.

5. the gop negotiates ui extension
but is terribly concerned about the deficit. obama trades off "tweaking" ss & medicare in return for another 13 month extension.
