What if we actually get sixty votes to bring DADT repeal to the floor and Jim Demented, Crazy Doc Coburn, and Lance Corporal McCain use all kinds of dilatory tactics to delay passage. Can't Reid just keep the Senate in session until they get a final vote?

... as there are 58 Dems in the Senate. 57 if you dont count Manchin.

There aren't *that* many ways to hamstring the Senate once debate's scheduled.

But no, if there were provisions for unlimited delay Reid couldn't keep the Senate in session until they get a final vote. This Senate's days are numbered.

3. Reid Said He Had The Vote Now

Reid said he had the vote now because no matter when he had it the Repugs would use dilatory tactics to prevent a final vote. I thought if we can get to sixty we can get to fifty one.

Also, the president has the power to keep Congress in session. If it's the last piece of business and there are sixty votes there to get a vote and the Repugs are using dilatory tactics I think he should.
