1. I could be wrong, but I think Peter is the one who proposed the 2 year
b*sh tax cuts for the rich extension this past summer. Pretty good timing on the snazzy job.

2. bingo
...In the face of the dueling deficits, the best approach is a compromise: extend the tax cuts for two years and then end them altogether. Ideally only the middle-class tax cuts would be continued for now. Getting a deal in Congress, though, may require keeping the high-income tax cuts, too. And that would still be worth it.

3. He did not propose it, but he said he supported it if nothing else could pass.

He also supported getting rid of ALL tax cuts.

4. Isn't that exactly what this bill is all about?
It's supposedly because nothing else can pass and is scheduled to end in 2 years.

6. Where exactly does a big brain financial guy go when he leaves his DC job?
He doesn't become the president of a bank in a small midwestern town. He gets a big job with a big financial firm. What do you suggest he do for a living?

7. Teach?
I don't know. Be the head of a non-profit or some other ignoble calling.

Clearly, the choice is run up the score as much as you can or starve to death.
