Why is Clinton meeting with Obama? Not a snarky question, I just missed the
reason they're giving -- anybody know?

1. To help him ram this down our throats just like Clinton rammed NAFTA down the Dems throats.

3. Because Democrats appear to have this wish to lose......
Edited on Fri Dec-10-10 03:05 PM by FrenchieCat
as they shoot each other in the foot, thinking that simply having good intentions
translates into the general public actually understanding what would
happen to their taxes without this deal; most don't, and when they find out,
all hell will break loose!

Bill Clinton, no matter what can be said about him (and many things can),
is a Democrat and a winner.....and for whatever reason, even when he did
truly negative things that actually didn't benefit most of us, he was still
the top big dog Democrat who the Democratic elected officials and the ranks
still respected and defended against Republican attacks.....
no matter what he was doing to screw us.

Here you have a situation where the real culprits (the GOP) are literally being let off the hook,
and instead, the Democratic cicular firing squad is getting all of the ink, and
Pres. Obama is getting all of the heat.

Perhaps Democrats having to think of and see Bill Clinton,
and perhaps remembering all that he did (the good and the bad),
can give same Democrats (officials & rank) a better perspective of how
they used to fight for their President,
instead of railing against him, while leaving the opposition untouched.

In the world of politics, what is remembered are the tangible consequences,
not the abstract great ideals...
and should this tax deal fall through,
the tangible result will not be pleasant for any Democratic official,
nor for 98% of the American people..... by a long shot,
no matter how noble all of the good intentions are.....
as I know for sure that Sen. Sanders's intentions are exactly that; good....
the result if he were to prevail in derailing this deal;
would be not good at all for just too many. :(

9. Yeah, that's what I'm afraid of.

I'll take this opportunity to tell you that every time I see one of your posts I think "I should tell onehandle what a GREAT pic of Pelosi that is!" -- :hi:

7. They have had other meetings before this. The reasons I've heard in the past
are that Obama wants Clinton's advice and opinions. I would assume that the reasons are the same for this meeting.

8. Yeah, that makes sense -- thanks. But just now they're saying on MSNBC that
this meeting was scheduled previously so even if it wasn't about this particular issue, you know they're talking about it! :hi:

13. Boy - you were sure right about teaching the rookie. I've never been a big
Clinton fan but boy, he sure delivered today - my hat's off to him. He did a good job explaining and selling the "framework" :7

I still don't agree, but I reached that decision myself after a lot of thought and back-and-forthing, but if I'd been on the fence, I think this just may have convinced me.

14. Bill is a pro and could sell ice to a polar bear.
Experience matters in politics just as much as it does in any other job.

;)

I had a feeling of deja vu. I wish it was the 90s, when the main issue the nation worried about was Bill's privates. Ahhh, the good old days. These days SUCK royally.
