Does Obama's team really believe that Americans want Bill Clinton? Bill Clinton who complimented George W. Bush? Really, this is change. Bill Clinton owns responsibility for removing many of the banking safeguards (Glass Steagall). This is not change! Oh, Lawrence O'donnell don't be too confident that there will not be a third party candidate.

8. Accuracy is important
"...In fact, Obama offered praise for the Gipper, lauding him for tapping into the country's concern with the growth and "excesses" of the federal government, and its desire to "return to that sense of dynamism and entrepreneurship" -- hardly a welcomed interpretation within progressive circles. ..."

"...Critics are mixed about George W. Bush's memoir, but the former president has received a rave from a fellow White House alumnus, Bill Clinton...."

George W. Bush and Bill Clinton: BFFs!

Maybe yesterday's joint PSA for Haiti relief wasn't awkward after all -- today former presidents George W. Bush and Bill Clinton were interviewed together on Face the Nation, where they told Bob Schieffer that they consider themselves friends and that George used to call Bill back when George was president, and that Barbara Bush considers Bill George's "fourth brother."

There's lots more. If your done giggling you should probably get up off the dirty floor.

2. Bill Clinton had his flaws and his virtues.......
and so does Obama.

To believe that everyone should be perfect is ridiculous.

As to a 3rd party candidate, is that what you are pushing for?

3. If this tax compromise goes through
in anything remotely resembling its current form, a third party will have at least one supporter.

5. I've never been a big Clinton fan, but he did a good job presenting the case
for the "framework" (WTF are we supposed to call it?), I'll give him that. I've already made up my mind, but he may have persuaded those who were on the fence.

9. It's puzzling. But, maybe Obama thought Clinton was so popular that it would swing the vote?

11. Bill Clinton who oversaw an economic golden age and massive job growth.
Edited on Fri Dec-10-10 09:52 PM by phleshdef
He produced some bad bills during his time, but he can not be denied the positive economic results that were produced during his tenure. If we had kept the surpluses he left us with, we wouldn't even be having an argument over spending for job growth right now. The money would be there and thus there would be very little to argue over.

12. He also set the framework for the biggest economic depression since the great depression of the 30s
Where Reagan left off with deregulation, Clinton picked up and expanded the practice. Sure, Bush Jr did his fair share, but it was Clinton who set up the framework with deals like NAFTA. Clinton, like Obama is attempting to do now, traded away long term moderate success for short term major growth.

The problem is that Americans tend to think of what happened while a president was in office and often fail to look at the long term ramifications of policy. Reagan, HW Bush, Clinton and W Bush are all to blame for our current economic woes. Do you really want Obama to be added to that list?

13. Ahem, not to burst your bubble, but Americans DO want Bill Clinton.
He is at the moment the most popular politician in the country along with Hillary, regardless of party. Bill is a master politician and the 90s were very good for most people.

So, heck yes, Americans would vote for Bill for a third term if it was at all possible!!!

:D
