NYC mayor Bloomberg on presidential run: 'No way, no how'
NYC mayor on presidential run: 'No way, no how'

The Associated Press

Sunday, December 12, 2010; 9:31 AM

NEW YORK -- New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg says there is "no way, no how" that he will run for president of the United States.

Speaking on NBC's "Meet the Press," Bloomberg said in an interview broadcast Sunday that his advisers should "cease-and-desist" with their suggestions that he run.

The Democrat-turned-Republican-turned-independent says he's focused on his job as mayor. He has occasionally been mentioned as a long-shot presidential candidate.

Bloomberg says he wants to leave office having a reputation "as a very good, maybe the greatest mayor ever."

He was elected for a third term in 2009.

During the interview with host David Gregory, Bloomberg answered questions on tax cuts, the economy, immigration and party politics.

1. Will this news be received here as
a relief, or a disappointment?

No way to tell anymore.

2. A source of relief to Obama.
Meaning, by definition, it is a source of disappointment to some. That is, those who (like DeMint) are in perpetual search of POTUS's "Waterloo".

3. Yeah, right. He was also for term limits.
Bloomberg ran (at first) saying that two terms was enough for any political office.

Bloomberg flip-flopped on that one when he ran for a third term.

4. he also said he wouldn't attempt to overturn term limits
Bloomberg was asked if he would attempt to overturn the law (voted on by the public) limiting NYC mayor to 2 terms. He clearly stated he would not do that. He lied (or changed his mind) depending on how you want to characterize that, and overtuned the term limits and ran for a 3rd term, claiming that because of the "economy" it was necessary.
