Notice how delighted the Repukes, the Media, & the Rich seem to be with President Obama right now?
Have you noticed how so many of them, even some of Obama's most animated Right Wing enemies, think this tax deal compromise is nothing short of wonderful and are all of a sudden some of his biggest supporters?

Have you noticed how not a single one of them can explain where the country is going to get the money it desperately needs to pay its bills?

Rich people love this deal. The Media loves this deal. Republicans love this deal. They're all saying so right on TV.

If that doesn't prove that extending Bush's tax cuts for the rich is completely irresponsible, then nothing does.

These greedy corporate Repukes don't like Obama any better than they ever did. They're simply out to fleece him and us for all they can get. Their temporary public display of affection towards the President should be interpreted as nothing more than a celebration for them not paying their fair share of taxes for at least another 2 more years.

13. I'll bet he doesn't worry - his dance card is filled with parties right now
And the upcoming CEO meeting will be a massive ego boost as they all line up to kiss the ring of the guy who is giving them tax breaks on top of record-breaking bonuses during a Depression. :sarcasm:

10. Amen to that
We have really let ourselves take our eye off the ball when it comes to one of the most important things plaguing us, Bush's wars. We have let the media convince us that the almighty dollar takes precedence over war and killing. Some of us have let them convince us that Bush's tax cuts for the rich are a good thing.

Liberals/Progressives, the Dem party has been hijacked - Bernie Sanders and a few others may be all we have left.

25. The payroll holiday idea did not come from the left.
Now, if they'd combined it with a raise on the cap so as to neutralize the effect on the SS fund I'd have no problem with it. But, that said, the GOP has wanted to do this for awhile.

Edited on Sun Dec-12-10 01:08 PM by CakeGrrl
What better way to damage a Dem President than to pretend that you're OK with him?

His party will recoil in disgust.

Why...his own party will want to get him out of office (as much as the Repubs ALWAYS have!)

If this board actually represented the full demographics of the Democratic Party, it'd be game over, with the Repubs sitting back and smirking like mad. They'd install the puppet of their choice and the Democratic party will have imploded.

28. Many of the so called Dem congressmen and senators
are really repukes in disguise. Maybe the slowness to act and seeming weakness, as well as trying to compromise all the time with the repugs are really all by design - most of the Dems are after all millionaires too.

27. I am suspicious of anything the right thinks is good.
I can't remember a time when W was ever concerned with negotiating with the Dems, and the Dems winning anything without a fight, even with a majority house.

Other than the continuation of the wars, this is the most sickening instance of the Obama administration. If I wanted a repuke president, I would have voted for one!

31. Of course he knows
I think he thinks by compromising he has a better shot at getting re-elected - how may repugs will vote for him? The repugs will take credit for the Payroll Tax Holiday and the business equipment write-off legislation anyway, and we get 2 more years of Bush-error tax cuts for the rich - which will of course create jobs - but invisible ones like over the last 10 years. We need that money, the rich haven't suffered.

if you gave a fuck about working people you would have fought for the public option, against the wars, privatizing schools, big polluters, torture, and this shitty tax deal which will cost us dearly. Think the economy sucks now? Just wait until 2012 if this shit passes. This "deal" is what got us where we are today.

OBAMA needs to WAKE THE FUCK UP and start ACTING like a DEMOCRAT!

We "need to wake the fuck up?" We are more awake than you think. Just because you love this compromise that extends Bushenomics for 2 more years doesn't mean everyone else is forced to like it.

I don't think you'll ever admit that the most important part of this lame compromise is that President Obama promised to end Bush's tax cuts for the richest Americans, we supported him on that, and look what happened....we are going to continue Bush's policy for 2 more frigging years, a policy that put this country right smack into the toilet. And now we are going to get flushed right down the drain. Maybe YOU need to wake the fuck up and start realizing that this country cannot afford shit like this any longer. This deal was for the sake of short run gains and long term disaster and it was a deal for the sake of political gain, mostly for the sake of the latter!
