Cave, Capitulate, Cave, Capitulate, Cave, Capitulate, bla bla bla yawn snooze.
This foolish meme, being incessently spouted by hyperbolic tunnel-visioners who have never had to govern a solitary thing, is getting so old it is starting to stink. Kindly beat another horse. This is long since dead.

15. You're the one who seems to assume the GOOPs will vote "our" way, if we just cave to them
Nothing's going to get done in the next two years, except by default (such as the expiration of the Bush tax cuts) unless Obama and the Congressional Dems let it happen. What the White House and the Senate leaders have conjured is a Raw Deal - no deal.

22. I'm willing to see those go away. Blame the GOOP for their NO vote a few weeks ago.
Edited on Sun Dec-12-10 02:39 PM by leveymg
Obama should never have brought The Deal up in public or pressured the Democratic Congress to go along with it - the terms demanded by the GOOP are too odious. He showed poor judgment and, worse, appears to be willing to advance the GOOP agenda.

28. Obama should use some of the remaining TARP funds for UI extender, if Congress won't
Edited on Sun Dec-12-10 09:05 PM by leveymg
There's more than enough unspent money in the fund to cover an extension of UI. We don't have to make The Deal that destroys the Democratic Party to do the right thing.

9. I think continuing the top 2% tax cut sucks. Explain to me how to get Republicans
to vote for anything that doesn't include that. I can't come up with any thing.

20. The idea isn't to "get the Republicons to" do anything. The idea is to STAND UP FOR WHAT'S RIGHT.
That will go furlongs toward undermining the Republicons' position. Which will pay off a hundredfold.

21. Yeah I really appreciate what Sanders did. Why Congress did not take this up in June
Or July really pisses me off.

I am glad about what Sanders did, a lot of VOTERS needed to hear that - especially "Independents" and moderate republicans and conservative democrats.

Given the realities, there still has to be legislation . . . and that requires the Republicans to do something.

23. Of course they have to do something. But we need to worry less about what they do, and...
...more about what we do. That's how we win - on policy and politics.

16. What have you had to govern?
And what about the ELECTED Dems who oppose this plan? Are you dismissing their governing experience because they don't agree with you?

I'll take Bernie's governing experience over yours.

29. Raving at citizens of a democratic republic that they do not
govern is a fairly blatant admission of your authoritarian views, and the foot stomping stream of characterizing adjectives for those who dare to disagree with you is the prefect setting for such a confession.
Interesting way to look at things. Also, when you proclaim that having 'governed' is a requirement for having an opinion, you beg the question, what have you governed?

30. I've yet to hear a realistic alternative to the tax deal
It's either handwaving about "doing the right thing" and sinking any hope of stimulus funds or tax cuts for the non-rich until the next congress where republicans will have even more say, or pretending the republicans in the lame duck congress have any incentive of passing tax cuts that don't include a continuation of cuts for the rich.

If this doesn't pass all these critics will just start blaming him for "not fighting" for the middle class when taxes go up and everybody gets kicked while they are down.
