Obama vows to fight Republicans -- next year
http://content.usatoday.com/communities/theoval/post/2010/12/obama-vows-to-fight-republicans----next-year/1

As fellow Democrats accuse him of caving in to Republicans on the tax cut deal, President Obama is repeatedly promising them that he will fight the GOP aggressively when it takes over the U.S. House and adds senators next month.

"I will be happy to see the Republicans test whether or not I'm itching for a fight on a whole range of issues," Obama said last week. "I suspect they will find I am. And I think the American people will be on my side on a whole bunch of these fights."

Obama has echoed this pledge repeatedly as House and Senate Democrats wrestle with the package that also includes items sought by Obama, including a 13-month extension of unemployment benefits and an array of middle class tax cuts. In a conference call with political supporters, Obama said: "We are going to go right back at Republicans in showing why the things that they wanted in this compromise don't make sense."

One of those fights will be over the very thing that some Democrats are angry about: The two-year extension of George W. Bush-era tax cuts for the nation's wealthiest Americans.

"When they expire in two years, I will fight to end them," Obama said. "Just as I suspect the Republican Party may fight to end the middle-class tax cuts that I've championed and that they've opposed."

1. "I will fight.....next time..."
That is why he lost the midterms, he refused to stand up to the GOP, instead capitulating and giving them everything for nothing, and he showed his weakness.

Independents do not like a weak president.

10. Oh, bullsh*t
He didn't do it this time and he won't next time. Let's just call it like it is.

I hope he will do some other things but I'm not holding out any hope that he will ever fight the GOP on tax policy.

16. Wait for the debt ceiling crisis
That's sometime in the spring...wait for calls for a flat tax, crushing SS, and a VAT to fix budget problems. I can't wait to see how Obama agrees with the GOP ont hat.

17. I learned long ago to pay little attention to what people say...
but instead to watch what they do. I believe we will look back and say that this "deal" was Barack Obama's defining moment.

20. Bobby Jindal loves the tax cut deal
http://tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com/2010/12/bobby-jindal-tax-cut-deal-best-legislation-in-the-past-two-years.php

It would seem the GOP is finally giving the president some credit for enacting their agenda.
