Obama's job approval rating hits new low
Is President Obama in serious danger of losing re-election in 2012?

A new McClatchy/Marist Poll released over the weekend found Obama's job approval rating at just 42 percent — the lowest number of his presidency. One reason Obama's numbers have taken a turn for the worse: The president has lost ground with Democrats in recent weeks.

According to the poll, 74 percent of Democrats approve of the job Obama is doing — a sign that he remains enormously popular with his base. But that number is down nearly 9 percentage points since November, according to McClatchy. Meanwhile his disapproval rating nearly doubled, moving from 11 percent to 21 percent in the last month.

Among self-described liberals, his approval rating has dropped from 78 percent to 69 percent since November.

So tell me, GDP'ers, is this McClatchy/Marist poll biased? How exactly is Obama supposed to win re-election if his approval amongst liberals drops below two-thirds? Are progressives still to be alienated further by this Administration?

2. The Gallup Poll has him up 10 points!
I wonder what the Fox News Poll has him at?

NOT ONE Progressive I know is currently happy with Obama... NOT ONE!

But then again, I live in the low population area of... New York City.

23. Sorry to tell you some political reality but NYC does not count for anything
Edited on Mon Dec-13-10 11:44 PM by former9thward
in national elections. It is a total given that NYC will vote Democratic in a national election. When it comes to electoral votes whether NYC votes 5 to 1 Democratic or 1000 to 1 the electoral votes coming out of NY are exactly the same. It is the rest of country that counts. Democrats or Rethugs on national level don't give a shit about the vote in NYC.

24. So if Bloomberg runs, might NYC voters be important?
How about the tri-state area?

What area of the country has the MOST VOTERS per 100 square miles?

I am not arguing with your point, in fact you are correct -- the Dems just assume they will get all NY electoral votes... I just find it funny that majorities don't matter any more.

Take Lieberman in CT and Chris Christie in NJ, the Dems better start getting to work in the Tri-State Area... anyone ever heard of Scott Brown? Ohio?

The New York Senate went Republican this last election... go figure.

There is no need to vote for a Republican, ever.

18. Yep,
But since many of those who post this BS are right wing trolls, I say let them shot themselves! Anyone with a brain will be voting for the president, even if they didn't get everything they wanted, they realize that republicans are insane and will take us back to the days of George W. Bush's recipe for the "END" of things as we know it!

What would the world, this nation, be like if he had been president for 8 years?

21. You already have George's days right now
You just don't want to believe it. Let me ask you this - if Bush was in power right this instant, and the democrats gained seats in the senate and gained control of the house - would you be pleased with the tax cut deal? I am willing to bet, you would be screaming blue murder for the betrayal of borrowing money from the chinese to pay for rich tax cuts in order to pass an unemployment extension for 13 months. I am willing to bet you would be hollaring loudly about cutting social security payroll payments to erode that program.

I'd be willing to bet you would be complaining long and hard how fiscally irresponsible this is.....and you would be right. But because it isn't Bush....it is Obama.....you fail to see how dangerous this is because you simply cannot accept that Obama would give up his principles so fast and loosely as if they were worth nothing at all.....

Because the truth is that this tax cut gives Bush' irresponsible policy validity, and republican ideology trumps common sense, and democratic principles mean nothing. And when push comes to shove, that vote you cherish and hold dear means less than the paper it is validated on, because once they have it, unless you own a multinational corporation, unless you own a big bank on Wall Street, government does not work for you. Be happy with the crumbs left over on the table, while they export your job, steal your house and cut off your social security - that you paid into your whole working life. And if you get sick - hurry up and die already.

No vote? Republicans are in.

You don't have to be scared. It's a simple fact.

If those who withhold their vote really think this administration is just like having Republicans call the shots, they are in for a rude awakening.

8. There may be many who sit home ... or worse, don't volunteer.
Money only goes so far. You need an army of volunteers in addition to the paid election staff to effectively run a campaign, the type of people who will give up their nights and weekends, who believe passionately in the candidate.

I don't know anyone who is willing to do that again for Obama.

But you call them purist, sanctimonious, loud, drug addicted, fucking retards long enough and they may not be so motivated to do your GOTV work.

But apparently he can win without them, so not to worry.

9. Basing re-election viability in polls two years from the election is political crack for zombies
Edited on Mon Dec-13-10 09:42 PM by zulchzulu
Anyone who has followed politics for at least two presidential election cycles knows that poll numbers two years away are as valuable as predicting how many leaves a tree in your backyard will have two years from now on the Fourth of July.
