You have to give the guy some credit for knowing he's going to burn in Hell for infinity for his crimes against the poor, the veterans, the working class, the middle class and even those who endangered their lives trying to rescue those victims on 911.

The man knows he's fucked.

1. Rachel just closed her show with this - the essential theme of the
piece was, "Don't mock him for his crying jags, mock him for his hypocrisy!"

8. I saw it. RM still awesome.
She played a couple of video segments of other politicians perhaps crying.

Edmund Muskie

Perhaps the most infamous instance of a politician crying. It's not entirely clear to me that Muskie was crying, and not every reporter present agreed he was crying. However, whether he did or did not cry, IMHO, is irrelevant. He spoke very passionately, emotionally, and genuinely while blasting William Loeb as a liar.

Hillary Clinton

While still a candidate for President in 2008, in New Hampshire, she perhaps cried, but certainly spoke very passionately, emotionally, and genuinely about the election.

The Boner

His crying does not for one second strike me as genuine.

He cried for passage of TARP, but today lambastes it and pretends he never voted for it.

He cries every time he goes by a school so he no longer visits schools. Really? Are you fucking kidding me? Really?

I volunteer at my son's elementary school doing an afternoon Science Club through the PTA. I sometimes want to cry when I see the lack of available resources. I sometimes want to cry when I feel like beating my head on the wall because so few parents volunteer. I sometimes want to cry when it's a few minutes before Science Club is supposed to start, and my outside presenter has not yet shown up and I'm wondering so how exactly I'm going to improvise for an hour.

All that said, it makes me smile when I see kids excited about science, even if they are too young to get it and are just entertained by the presenter. It gives me hope that the little kids today will become the scientists of tomorrow and leave C Street, anti-science, fascist fundamentalism on the ash heap.

John Boner crying at school. Fuck you, you orange, elitist, fat-assed plutocrat. You come to my kid's school when I'm there, and you'll definitely leave crying.

3. He seems to be crying about the lost American Dream - my guess
is that he has not openly accepted the mess repugs have made of our nation but deep down he knows and he cries. He needs to wake up.

6. Fuck him.
Edited on Wed Dec-15-10 04:23 AM by calimary
Sorry. I wish I could be more compassionate, but for him and his, I'm just not there anymore.

Fuck him. And I'll mock him ALL I WANT and heap derision on him as often as I feel like it.

More than ever I've come to believe that the only answer left for people like him is a taste of his own medicine. See how he likes it.

My husband and I have been having this general debate for years now. I want to go the kerosene enema route and give these assholes some big fat MEAN - BACK at them for what they've done to us as Americans and to us as Democrats and to us as liberals. My husband until recently has advocated all that high-minded moral and ethical and respectable stuff I wish I could still believe in and apply to these schmucks. Finally yesterday I asked him again: "okay, we've been nice. We've been kind. We've been conciliatory. We've reached out. We've done the "rise above it" thing. We've been forgiving. We've been understanding. We've tried to see it their way and even to do it their way. We've been patient. We've been the "don't do it, it just means you're like them" thing, and the "don't stoop to their level" thing.

Has ANY of it worked?

Has ANY of it shown any of them the light, won them over, encouraged them to knock it off, stop being mean, stop being liars, stop cheating and gaming the system and setting traps and not playing fair? How 'bout their seeing the error of their ways, or genuinely attempting to meet us halfway for a change? Or REALLY put "Country First" like their sloganeering says and their actions make into a mockery? Has ANY of it brought them around even to the smallest gesture like GETTING THE NAME OF OUR PARTY CORRECT? Have they even done THAT?

No.

So I'm back to my original premise. Start treating them the way they've treated us. Taste of their own medicine. See how they like it. I believe more firmly than ever that it's the only language they understand. Somehow they refuse to understand us with our approach to them at present. So maybe we should start speaking a little more clearly. And this time, my husband didn't put up an argument anymore. He actually agreed with me.

If john boner wants any sympathy and compassion outta me, he's gonna have to dish out an ocean-sized helping of it to me and mine, FIRST. And when he starts saying "Democratic party," or "Democratic legislation" or "Democratic Senate" or "Democratic fill-in-the-noun-here" and directing all those other snot noses on his side to do the same, only THEN shall I start pronouncing his name the way he says it should be pronounced. I'll pronounce his name any way I damn well feel like pronouncing it. I'll play nice with these assholes when they start deserving it.

Maybe this is why we saw so many republi-CON women resorting to the "put on your big-boy pants" or "man-up" stuff on the campaign. Maybe they're all too painfully aware of how many crybabies they have among their own "men"folk. Besides, how do we know any of those burbling crocodile tears are genuinely sincere? I'm not saying he's acting. But when he says he cares about all those kids in schools that he can't even visit anymore (presumably because he's gonna break down and cry again), how come he turns around and pushes for all kinds of cuts to education and school lunches and other safety-net provisions for the poor - and poor kids? His policies are greedy and selfish and they SUCK. So does he! He's gonna have to do a lot more than show me another crying jag for me to believe he cares about anybody but himself and his own image.

"It's like Nora Ephron said: 'Beware of men who cry. It's true that men who cry are sensitive to and in touch with feelings, but the only feelings they tend to be sensitive to and in touch with are their own.'"
http://voices.washingtonpost.com/compost/2010/12/no_boehner_no_cry.html

:nopity:

I'll show him pity when he starts showing it to everyone in America and the world - whom his policies have hurt.

On edit -

And I disagree that "he knows he's fucked." I seriously doubt he has any awareness of that at all. I suspect he thinks he's done just fine, and on the way to doing much better (by "doing" the country, that is).

9. You know what's sad?
If my theory is correct, we aren't going to have him around to mock much longer. And Eric Cantor is a much more savvy politician, to our detriment.

12. Take your pick
Liver cirrhosis, pancreatic or liver cancer. With his jaundice, I'm betting it's something having to do with his liver. Without a liver transplant, neither of those liver conditions have very good prognoses. And really, how many Oompa Loompas do you think are going to be willing to donate even part of their liver. He hasn't exactly been a friend, to, well, anyone.
