Isn't today the day he's signing a bill to extend those tax cuts for the rich?

14. He is against the tax cuts for the rich.
Always has been, and still is.

Note that he didn't vote for it, Congress did.

Fact.

He has never supported the tax cut for the rich.

40. Not only did he make the deal, he circumvented House Democrats to do so
Edited on Sun Dec-19-10 01:13 AM by PurityOfEssence
This is why many of us cry "Cult". It's like many believers' explanation of human events: all goodness flows from the supreme being, but nothing bad is ever his/her/its fault.

The very idea of hiding behind Congress here is despicable. He has constantly played games with the responsibility issue and the separation of powers, yet here he specifically did an end-run around House Members to do a deal that is, at best, foolhardy.

Enough of this already.

42. Intellectually 100% dishonest
When you make a compromise, theres by definition something in there you don't like but vote for anyway to get the stuff you do like.

Now, you can argue the compromise was a bad deal or not.

But its complete BS to equate support for a bill with support for all its parts.

16. If that is how he feels then. he shouldn't continue them
Nor should he have used the rest of the top 20% as cover for the fake middle class tax cuts that are top heavy as hell instead of pushing targeted relief for those that need it most, the bottom 40% or even the bottom 60%:

The whole thing is trickle down.

19. How can you say that?
It seems obvious he believes in at least some of the tenants. He states that he believes things like this are compromise, but then in the same breath he gives credence to supply side economics. It's evident he believes in them to a fair extent.

I watch his press briefings in full on the internet, not on TV with commentators. It is obvious that fundamentally he goes along with a lot of the tenants of supply side economics.

Supporting American business is not "Reaganism". That's all he is doing, because he wants our country to thrive.

I'm still waiting for one example of trickle-down policy that Obama has supported and passed in his term.

10. It's called Satire
Edited on Fri Dec-17-10 02:48 PM by Go2Peace
And while satire may or may not be tasteful depending on your feelings on the subject, it is not really out of place on a political discussion board.

The point of the satire is Reagonomics, and the point being made is that we as Democrats are effectively embracing core components of that philosophy.

The symbolism may be uncomfortable, but the point is certainly valid.

If only it has made you think, then it will have achieved it's end. The point is not that "Obama is evil" or even that he really laughs about it (which surely he doesn't).
