Unbelievable. CNN teaming with racist Tea Party Express to host Presidential Debate
CNN Teaming With Tea Party For Republican Presidential Debate

CNN announced Friday that it has teamed up with the Tea Party Express to host what it is calling a "first-of-its-kind Tea Party presidential primary debate" in September 2011.

The Republican debate will be held during the Labor Day week in Tampa, Florida. In a statement, CNN said the debate will place special emphasis on issues that the Tea Party has been "vocal in advocating," including less government spending, lower taxes and a smaller deficit.

In the same statement, CNN political director Sam Feist said that "undecided voters turn to CNN to educate themselves during election cycles, so it is a natural fit for CNN to provide a platform for the diverse perspectives within the Republican Party, including those of the Tea Party."

3. It's only a Republican primary debate, so it's not as bad
As a general election debate. Like it or not, it's their base.

4. CNN helped with the creation of the Tea Party,
So I can see why this would happen.

5. well some on the "left" think the Tealiban is essentially a populist group
they think we can somehow counter their brainwashing and voila! they'll become populist and align with us on everything.

I'm not surprised the M$M overlooks the virulent racism and nativism of that group.

6. What's not populist about virulent racism and nativism?
Edited on Fri Dec-17-10 04:29 PM by Donald Ian Rankin
I think the Tea Party is about as populist as it gets, sadly - they really do represent the views of a large number of Americans, and I don't think it's meaningful to describe them as "brainwashed" any more than anyone else's views are a product of their experience.

By and large, populism is ugly and harmful, not the benign force for good some American leftists see it as. The Tea Party is an immeasurably more populist movement than most of the self-proclaimed Populist Parties on the American left.

Give me elitism any day: I don't entrust my plumbing to someone who hasn't spent years learning to be a plumber, I don't want my computer designed by someone who hasn't spent years learning to design computers, and I don't want my country run by someone who hasn't spent years learning how to practice politics.

7. Isn't that disgusting? I saw DUers defending them the other day
Overlooking the racism, focusing on their common ground in being displeased with the government so they can get President Obama out of office.

Strange, ugly bedfellows.

:puke:

10. This would be good for Obama...
Taking on the tea party questions and concerns with confidence and intellect...similar to that health care debate with repubs.

11. Not all together surprising....
some people have a very difficult time having a black man in leadership. They will do anything to tear down this administration. When they say they want "their" country back....they aren't playing.
