Scott Brown on his vote to advance DADT repeal: "It's just another vote."
Brown Downplays 'Yes' Vote On DADT
Evan McMorris-Santoro | December 18, 2010, 12:19PM

TPM caught up with Sen Scott Brown (R-MA), one of six Republicans to vote for DADT repeal today. He seemed to seek to downplay his role in helping the ban end.

Asked if he was involved in pushing more GOPers to vote aye on repeal, Brown said "no."

"It's just another vote," Brown said as a staffer hustled him downstairs.

3. It is simple. He is a Senator from Mass. Some want a reason for Lieberman's

leadership on this. He is from CT. CT and Mass have been very progressive on gay rights in general. One of the main reasons I will never ever leave CT. We are somewhat sane around here.

5. Lieberman has a history of being good on domestic issues and
shitty on foreign policy.

Snotty Scotty Centerfold has no such history. He ran on a platform of "have my bigotry and eat it too" in the campaign. This was a vote to save his ass, nothing more.

6. Lieberman is good on civil rights but garbage on empire, civil liberties, and economic justice
He is only good on domestic issues if it doesn't cost the wealthy or interfere with the police state/the MIC.

8. Lieberman is also toast in my state. I can't see him winning in CT again.
Not one group really trusts him, moderates, liberals or conservatives. His poll #'s have been as low as in the 30's.

9. True. To stay a Senator in Mass, he had to vote this way.

Obama couldn't count on his vote for ending tax cuts to the wealthy either.

13. Lieberman has a close to 40 year career of being good on gay issues
In the mid 1970's he sponsered an ENDA like law for Connecticut as Connecticut Senate Majority leader. He believes in this stuff.

2. His staffers seem to really control him - it seems rare that there is ever a
comment on pending legislation from him - just from his spokesperson.

7. I'm glad someone else noticed that too.
But whatever the reasoning, we will happily take his vote!

4. Coward.
Thought you were the "independent" Republican, Scotty.

You're still gone in 2012, but thanks for the help.
