What are your personal favorite reversals of Bush policy by the Obama administration?

One of mine is the one where Obama overturned Bush's own last-minute endangered species rule which severely weakened the Endangered Species Act. Just before the war criminal left office, he rushed through his own new regulation that would have limited the capability of the ESA to do its rightful and proper job in protecting our endangered wild animals. Obama overturned this, thank goodness.

Hopefully, President Obama will convince Salazar to reverse his position on siding with Bush over polar bears. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

10. Mine is the turnaround in environmental policy...namely logging in preserved wilderness areas, deep

deep water oil drilling, and setting aside millions of acres of land as nationally preserved wilderness. Not since Teddy Roosevelt have we seen such a commitment to environmental matters.

Very different from Bush's opening of wilderness preservation areas to logging, of all things. Few things are more destructive, as you probably know, than logging. Even if they take younger trees, just the roads and traffic and the logging process itself does a lot of destruction to a wild area and its critters.

I feel he's the finest steward of the environment that this country has ever seen, and it's the reason why he's one of my favorite presidents ever. If he was alive today, he'd be absolutely ashamed of his fellow Republicans with their pitiful environmental records.

John Kerry is a modern-day environmental hero from the Senate, but no one did more for conservation and the environment than Teddy Roosevelt. It's amazing to think about the precedents he set way back when, in his day and age.

25. denying and revoking some mountaintop removal permits

and making all new ones into individual permits requiring a full EIS (environmental impact study). A full EIS takes 2 to 3 years, involves lots of public notice and comment and can be ground to a halt at many points by the community. The Yucca Mountain EIS took 20 years.

Bush was using a warped reading of "catagorical exclusions" in the Clean Water Act to issue "nationwide" permits for these, basically a finding of "no significant impact" by rule, without any study, issued in 90 days or less.

I mean Bush had relegated this conflict to the importance of Reagan's invasion of Grenada. President Obama on the other hand has surged the troops and increased casualties (on both Nato and the indigenous people) so we may enjoy the benefits of death, destruction, and waste on par with the Iraq conflict.
