We got to them: Lindsey Graham calls lame duck session "excruciating"--trying to make GOP look bad
And overall it worked...

In an interview on Face the Nation, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) suggested Democrats just wanted to use the lame duck session to make Republicans look bad.

Said Graham: "The last two weeks have been an absolutely excruciating exercise -- Don't Ask, Don't Tell -- a controversial topic. Some say the civil rights issue of our generation, others say battlefield effectiveness was passed in the lame-duck session without one amendment being offered. The DREAM Act we've had two votes on the DREAM Act. Controversial immigration, there was no efforts to find a common ground there, passed without the ability to amend to try to make Republicans look bad with Hispanics."

1. Bill Kristol used the same language. How odd...not.
You gotta give the GOPpers credit...when they get their talking points from Rove and Luntz, they stick to 'em.

2. Dealing with DADT for Graham would be excruciating.
He's emotionally wiped out by all the cognitive dissonance.

3. They don't exactly have to try very hard
The GOP can look bad entirely unaided.

5. He needs to take a step back and think why opposing things the majority of America agrees with
the root of why they look bad.

Had the Democrats found a way to "ram through" (which is impossible given the 60 vote rule) something the country did NOT want, the republicans would look like valiant opponents - even if they failed.

Here, the problem for THEM, is that both DADT and the Dream Act are favored by well over half the country.

Now, Graham, in a bit of childish spite, is saying he can't vote for New START, though he was leaning to do so, not because of anything in the treaty but because he says that those votes "poisoned the well". If it fails to pass, The Democrats need to really attack those who refused to put the country's security in front of their personal disappointment.

9. Ever seen The Producers?
The original movie, the update from a few years ago (Matthew Broderick, Lane, Ferrel), or live show?

The nazi guy is all up in arms because the show becomes a hit by making the fuhrer look stoopid? And the two guys come out from behind the couch and say:

He (the fuhrer) didn't need OUR help (in making him look stupid).

It's sort of like that. It's not they need help looking bad, ass-clownish, dumb asses - they do that all on their own.
